Description

Introducing the world’s first Kinney recording, which was not even released as an LP at the time! This work is an audience album containing the “May 24, 1981 Nakano Sunplaza performance (evening part)” from the legendary IRON MAIDEN’s first tour to Japan. Similar to the simultaneously released “TOKYO 1981 1ST NIGHT”, we also discovered the original recording cassette and reprinted it directly. The sound is exactly the same as “TOKYO 1981 1ST NIGHT”, which combines miraculous high quality and reality. Although it is a super sound that is not just an audience recording, it vacuum packs the audience’s enthusiasm that cannot be experienced with just super high quality sound. Moreover, since it is an original cassette, the freshness is the best on this earth. The fact that it wasn’t made into an LP means that if you do something wrong, the playback when it was digitized might have been the first since it was recorded…the sound is so vivid that it makes you think. There is a very slight tape change missing at the beginning of “Murders In The Rue Morgue”, but 99.9% of the day is a two-disc set that you can experience and experience with super beautiful sound. The atmosphere contained in such a sound and flowing out from the speakers was the same as that at the Nakano Sunplaza venue where the 4th performance of the Japan tour was held… It is easy to say, but this first performance in Japan… There are countless audience recordings, including the official EP “MAIDEN JAPAN” and FM broadcasts from a certain public broadcasting station. Moreover, this “May 24th” will have two performances in one day. To avoid confusion, let’s check the Japan tour dates here. ・May 21st Tokyo Welfare Pension Hall “TOKYO 1981 1ST NIGHT” ・May 22nd Osaka Festival Hall ・May 23rd Aichi Welfare Pension Hall Official EP “MAIDEN JAPAN” ・May 24th Nakano Sunplaza (evening) [This work] May 24th at Nakano Sunplaza (night) *FM broadcast In this way, the first Japan tour will have 5 performances in 4 days. This day is “May 24th”, the same day as the FM broadcast, but the live show is on a different evening. The fourth live performance is very similar to “TOKYO 1981 1ST NIGHT”, which was held at the Tokyo Welfare Pension Hall on the first day, but it has a slightly different look. For example, when Deano calls out “Hey!”, a perfect “Hey!” is returned, but on the first day, even when Deano wasn’t expecting anything, the response was furious. On the other hand, in this work, Deano seems to be saying, “Now, please return that call.” Of course, there’s no way you’ll feel fresh after just four shows, but there’s a sense of confidence that says, “We’ll do our best today too,” rather than a last-minute feeling of “I don’t know what’s going to happen, but I’ll do it!” is transparent. Compared to the first day’s “TOKYO 1981 1ST NIGHT” where the band and the audience showed the tension, joy and excitement that can only be experienced for the first time in a half-and-half show, this work is led by the band and drives the audience crazy. After that, they traveled to different places, including Osaka on the second day and Nagoya on the third day, and were greeted with enthusiasm and hospitality at all of them, which gave them the confidence to return to Tokyo. Furthermore, the official recording went well, and unlike the final “night section”, there is a (slight) relaxed feeling that does not include broadcasting, and there is an atmosphere that can only be found on this day and this episode. The set list is also different from “TOKYO 1981 1ST NIGHT”. “Purgatory” and “Sanctuary” were included in the beginning, and the soothing “Strange World” was included towards the end. At the beginning of the first day, we showed various aspects a la carte, such as “Wrathchild”, up-close “Sanctuary”, light “Twilight Zone”, and lyrical “Remember Tomorrow”, and tried to see what would be popular with foreign customers. It was a flow (well, all of it was well received), but when this work rushes forward without hesitation, it runs thoroughly, and in the parts that are made to be heard, it is listened to to the fullest. As a result, when I reviewed the completed order, I found that it had a very sharp flow, with the first half centered on “KILLERS” and the second half centered around “Maiden of Steel.” Following “TOKYO 1981 1ST NIGHT”, a super masterpiece of Kinney recording that no one has ever heard was born. With this brother’s work and the FM version “LIVE KILLERS”, the top collection of the 3 Tokyo performances will be completed. A live album filled with unparalleled tension and great performances among the early IRON MAIDEN recordings. Please enjoy it to the fullest!
