Description
“The ultimate set list that fans wanted” was realized only five times. A four-disc set coupling two representative live albums is now available. This work contains the “July 16th + 17th, 1999 New York City performance”, which is the fourth and fifth performance of “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99”. It is a top sound source set of two days at “Hammerstein Ballroom”, the only performance at the same venue on the tour. “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99” is a mini tour that debuted Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith after their return. Since becoming a six-member group, IRON MAIDEN has alternated between “album tours” and “planned tours”, but this tour is also the first of the “planned tours” themed on the best album and PC game “ED HUNTER”. First, let’s take a look at the overview.・July 11th – August 17th: North America #1 (5 shows) ←★Here★ ・July 18th – August 8th: North America #2 (11 shows) ・September 9th – October 1st: Europe (12 shows) 28 shows in total. It was clearly a smaller scale than a normal world tour, and a true “unveiling”. The highlight of this tour is “North America #1”. The dates are continuous with “North America #2”, but the 5 shows of “North America #1” are actually special. They are playing the extremely rare “Stranger In A Strange Land”. In the first place, each of the past “planned tours” has its own best song selection, but it was Steve Harris who chose it. However, this work is made up of the best album “ED HUNTER” decided by fan voting. It is the only “super best selection from the fan’s perspective” that condenses “I want to hear this!” from all over the world. That tour is “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99”. In “North America # 2” and “Europe”, 17 songs were played from the total 20 songs of “ED HUNTER”, but only the 5 performances of “North America # 1” had 18 songs including “Stranger In A Strange Land” (Incidentally, the only “ED HUNTER” numbers that were not played were “Be Quick Or Be Dead” and “Tailgunner”). This is the live album that represents “North America # 1” with such an ultimate set list. [Disc 1-2: July 16, 1999 Hammerstein Ballroom] First up is the first day of the New York 2DAYS, “July 16”. This is a famous recording that has long been known as one of the representatives of “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99”. There used to be some pre-releases with sound skipping, but this work uses a beautiful master that does not even have that. The quality is stunning and powerful sound. The musical tones that absorb the heat of the enthusiastic enthusiasts who want to witness Bruce & Adrian’s return as soon as possible and control it are amazing. It’s not a type that is “like a sound board”, but the core is thick and sturdy, and Steve’s bass is also crisp. There are some scenes where the sound is too strong and I get a little scared, but even that doubles the momentum of “MAIDEN’s revival!” This power is like KING CRIMSON’s “EARTHBOUND”. Of course, it’s not as loud as that, but it’s full of the same effect and power. The set drawn with that sound is already the best of the best. Of course, “Aces High” is only the best song voted by fans. There are only songs that you would normally shout “I’m here!” Moreover, the awesomeness of Bruce’s passionate singing that declares his return to the world… In particular, “Aces High” is sung more beautifully than “WORLD SLAVERY TOUR 1984-1985” 14 years ago, and is younger and sharper than “SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME WORLD TOUR 2008-2009” 9 years later. Even among the many “planned tours”, it is an exceptional super-passionate performance. It is truly a super show at the top. [Disc 3-4: July 17, 1999 Hammerstein Ballroom] The later discs 3-4 are the main favorites of this work! This is also a sound source that has been known for a long time, but it is a DAT direct master that has appeared in recent years. The quality is amazing, surpassing discs 1 and 2 in clarity! Although the core of the musical sound is not inferior to the previous day, the details of each instrument are even finer and sharper, and even the triple guitar entanglement sounds beautiful. Not only “North America #1”, but also the apex recording that competes for first and second place in “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99” as a whole. The show depicted with that sound is the ultimate super-famous rush, just like discs 1 and 2. In particular, the middle part “Killers”, “Stranger In A Strange Land”, “Futureal” and “Man On The Edge” are masterpieces. These four songs were not performed on the subsequent tours, and the “six-person version” was only “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99”. In particular, the highlight of this work, “Stranger In A Strange Land”, was the last performance on this day. Moreover, the performance itself is amazing. Steve Harris always says that “after about five performances, you will get used to the tour,” and this “July 17th” is exactly the fifth performance. It is full of moments of “Finally, the engine is full throttle!”. The best album “ED HUNTER” that directly reflects the feelings of the fans. The show that was put together from there was exactly “the ultimate set list that fans wanted”. The monumental 4-disc set that recorded the largest scale “North America #1” with the apex sound. The ultimate live set packed with the best songs and the best performances. Come on! Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City, NY.
