Description
The tour “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99” is whispered by collectors around the world as “the last challenge of the MAIDEN collection”. Here is the best video of the clearing of this most difficult challenge! “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99” is a mini tour that was unveiled when Bruce Dickinson and Adrian Smith returned. Since becoming a six-member group, IRON MAIDEN has been alternating between “album tours” and “planned tours”, but this tour is also the first of the “planned tours” themed on the best album and PC game “ED HUNTER”. So why is this tour the most difficult? The premise is that “there are no full professional shots or soundboards”. In the world, such tours are not uncommon, but IRON MAIDEN is a different story. Since becoming a six-member group, it has been a huge success all over the world. Each tour has left some kind of professional record. Here, let’s organize the full picture of the planned tours and the representative footage of each tour. ●1999: THE ED HUNTER TOUR → [This work] 《BRAVE NEW WORLD & Tour》 ●2003: GIVE ME ED… ‘TIL I’M DEAD TOUR → 『DEFINITIVE ED 2003』 《DANCE OF DEATH & Tour》 ●2005: THE EARLY DAYS TOUR → 『GOTHENBURG 2005: THE PRE-BROADCAST MASTER』 《A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH & Tour》 ●2008-2009: SOMEWHERE BACK IN TIME TOUR → 『PORTO ALEGRE 2008: DEFINITIVE EDITION』 《THE FINAL FRONTIER & Tour》 ●2012-2014: MAIDEN ENGLAND WORLD TOUR → 『ROCK AM RING 2014』 《THE BOOK OF SOULS & Tour》 Thus far, there have been five planned tours, each with its own superb full pro shot that was an official replacement. The only exception to this is “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ‘99”. If there is no pro shot, it is naturally the turn of the audience shot. The world’s top maniacs have all been eager to ask “Which is the No. 1 tour!?”, and have been doing everything they can to scrape together the footage, and have continued to “search for the top” by looking further from each performance to the difference in gene. Up to this point, it is a normal story. This alone is not the “most difficult”. Beyond that, it is said to be the “most difficult” because the journey of “searching for the top” has not yet been settled. Although there were “candidates” such as the Milwaukee performance and the Los Angeles performance, when it seems to have been settled, new excavation shots and new genes come out one by one. It has already been 19 years, but it has not been decided. The preface has become quite long. In the history of such exploration, two superb images that have been whispered in recent years as “this time will be the best” are coupled with this work. Its true identity is a full audience shot of “September 12, 1999 Hamburg performance” and “September 20, 1999 Essen performance”. The quality is truly superb. Due to the era, it will be a video shoot, but its freshness is definitely master quality. Not only dubbing marks, but even aging deterioration is not found at all, and there is no distortion at the edge of the screen, which should be the fate of analog masters. Although there is an analog feeling in the grain (obviously), it is a super-dimensional image beauty that is rare even in today’s digital heyday. The contents of the show are very similar because both are close to each other, but even so, it is a different show and different shooting. Of course, there are differences. First of all, the “September 12 Hamburg performance” on Disc 1 is a shot from the second floor seats on the right side of the stage (Janick Gers side). However, even though it is a second floor seat, it is not looking down, but the same height as the members. It is a super-excellent sight that allows you to look directly at the stage without any obstructions over the heads of the arena customers. What’s amazing about it is the stability and the tremendous zoom. Despite the ultra-zoom that challenges the performance limits of the video cameras of the time, there is no camera shake, and you can read the letters on the T-shirt worn by Yannick from the expressions of Bruce and Steve. This is why enthusiasts are shouting, “Is this the best this time!?” … Such a transcendental image. So, what about the “September 20th Essen performance” on Disc 2? This is also a beauty of the image and angle that is hard to compare in terms of quality. This is a slightly downward shot, taken from the left side of the stage (Dave Murray side). The view with no obstructions is not inferior to Disc 1, but the zoom is powerful enough that it is half a step … no, about 1/8 of a step!? This is a transcendental image that is so close to Disc 1 that you can’t help but add “!?”. And the sound is also suitable for a view with no obstructions. This is the same as Disc 1, but the singing and performance reach straight like a laser beam and are very clear. Even if it were a live album with only audio, it would be the best of the tour. The wonderfulness of the show depicted with such quality is… 18 songs from the 20 songs on the best album “ED HUNTER” produced by fan voting are included, and of course the opening is “Aces High” which starts with Churchill’s speech. The CG animation only for “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99” that is shown at the opening scene can be witnessed perfectly and beautifully. Although the happy appearance of Bruce who just returned and the fresh performance of the “first six” are also great, the highlight of the show is Eddie. In “Futureal”, the stilts Eddie and the giant Eddie of “Iron Maiden” appear, but the giant Eddie is a genuine “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99” original. You can see the “CG Eddie in action” that you can’t see at all on other tours from the super-best seats. “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99” has no official, full professional shots. Although it is a tour that has “surpassed the peak” many times in the last 19 years, these two performances in Germany will be the final answer. The full picture of “THE ED HUNTER TOUR ’99” that can be enjoyed with such superb quality. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content this weekend.
