Description

IMPELLITTERI returned to their original sound in 2009 with “WICKED MAIDEN”. The best live in Japan will be released. This work contains the performance “July 22, 2009: Shinsaibashi Club Quattro”. This is the best audience recording. This tour was full of the spirit of “IMPELLITTERI revival!” After all, the new work “WICKED MAIDEN” at that time was “almost a reunion album” with Rob Rock returning for the first time in nine years. Of course, there was also a Japan tour in 2004, but Curtis Skelton, who sang the mysterious work “PEDAL TO THE METAL”, … well, let’s forget about it. Anyway, what you hear from this work is the atmosphere of “I’m back!” and “Welcome back, we’ve been waiting for you!” And the one who vacuum-packed that atmosphere is the modern master “Western Japan’s Strongest Taper”, who is second to none when it comes to recording HR/HM. In recent years, super sounds that make soundboards unnecessary are becoming the norm for digital recordings, but this one is by far the most amazing. Not only the guitar, but also the vocals, rhythm section, and synth sound effects are super clear. It is a direct recording of a class that is just like a soundboard. Not only the sound, but the live performance itself is amazing. Chris Impellitteri, who was indigestible in 2004 due to his heavy style that did not suit him, has returned to his original style. Even now, when it comes to fast playing, it is common knowledge around the world to sweep with a light touch, but he shows off his full picking skills as if to say, “So what?” He lets us listen to the high speed that made him famous as the “fastest man in the world” while maintaining the strength that resides in each note. Nowadays, video sites are filled with videos of BPM4000, which “you can’t tell if it’s really that fast, even when you listen to it,” and “a roar that sounds like the motor sound of a vacuum cleaner,” but Chris values each and every note, and his accurate and consistent fast playing is extremely pleasant. Even now, Chris is still No. 1 when it comes to fast playing that can be heard as music. And then, there was a big performance of delicious numbers such as “Wonderful Life” and “Last Of Dying Breed” from the new album “WICKED MAIDEN” at that time, “Countdown To The Revolution” and “Father Forgive Them” from the popular No. 1 album “SCREAMING SYMPHONY”, and even “Hurricane” from the Curtis era. Especially “Hurricane” is a song that makes you think “Was it really this good?” thanks to Rob’s vocals. And finally, “Burning” and “Victim Of The System” from the two major mini-albums exploded. This year’s set list was good, but there were still many great songs that reminded me that there were still songs I wanted to hear. In addition, they covered Ozzy’s “Crazy Train” for the encore. This is also a great performance that bursts with love for metal (the riff of “Man On The Silver Mountain” made me grin involuntarily). IMPELLITTERI made a comeback in 2009 after the Curtis era. They have visited Japan several times in their 30-year history, but they have never given us such an intense feeling of joy and love for orthodox metal as they did this time. This is a masterpiece live album where the heat of steel swirls in the small club space.
