A rare live recording from Germany in 1978, the year after the release of their debut album “NEW BOOTS AND PANTIES!!”, is now available! Ian Dury & The Blockheads were on a roll, with their single “Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll” released on the Stiff label reaching number 3 in the UK charts, and their debut album “NEW BOOTS AND PANTIES!!” released in September 1977 reaching number 5 in the UK charts! This is a treasured recording of a live performance held on November 19, 1978 at Mitsubishi Electric Hall (Philips Hall), an outdoor facility in Dusseldorf, Germany, which can accommodate about 7,500 people, recorded in good stereo audience recording! It has been digitally transferred directly from the master cassette, and although there are some rough parts, it is recorded with a clear and wide range of good sound quality for the time. In addition, the pitch deviation caused by the master has been carefully corrected. The album starts with an introduction by The Clash’s PR and tour manager Cosmo Vinyl, and ends with a set list centered on numbers from the masterpiece “NEW BOOTS AND PANTIES!!”. The ending of Plaistow Patricia is missing due to a tape change, but the rest of the album is complete. You can enjoy the superb performance that ends with the rare “Upminster Kid” from the Kilburn & High Roads era and the long version of “Sex And Drugs And Rock And Roll” with an insert of the member introduction!
