Description

This is a live recording of a duo performance by Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, close friends both professionally and personally. While their names might bring to mind many songs like “Cantaloupe Island,” “Footprints,” and “Green Dolphin,” tonight’s performance is a different kind of improvisation. However, it’s not avant-garde free jazz, making it relatively easy to listen to. The DJ’s introductory speech and Hancock’s interview were cut. The audience cheers and Hancock’s talk between songs were also removed, allowing the recording to fit onto a single disc and resulting in a cohesive edit that feels like a complete album. * 6 Improvisations Recorded Live at Jazz Middelheim, Antwerp, Belgium, August 14, 2014 EXCELLENT Soundboard Recording // 79 min Herbie Hancock – piano, synthesizer Wayne Shorter – soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone
