Description

Shorter is centered around the impregnable trio of lead actors Herbie, Ron, and Tony in 1986, when the Mt. Fuji Jazz Festival was held for the first time in 1986, a summer tradition held at the foot of Japan’s world-famous Mt. Fuji. Instead, a powerful edition featuring VSOP featuring Joe Henderson and live performances from 1987 and 1989 featuring the same trio and other gorgeous guests is now available for the first time! ! Nippon Television brought “One Night with Blue Note”, which was held in New York in 1985, to Japan, and it started in 1986 with Blue Note founder Alfred Lion, Yamanashi Prefecture, the foot of Mt. Fuji, The Mount Fuji Jazz Festival was held every summer on the shores of Lake Yamanaka, with various sessions held day and night for three days, leaving many legends behind. Harvey, Ron and Tony, who also appeared in 1987 and 1989, performed on a rare stage where various guests participated in a trio performance centered around Harvey, who was the main performer at the first event, and Ron and Tony. The legendary trio of Herbie, Ron, and Tony with Friends includes a rare live show in which various guests participated, and two phantom private session songs that have never been broadcast before (complete performance of the songs). This is the first release from the new label that is drawing attention from fans, which is a two-hour compilation of their live performance at the Mt. Fuji Jazz Festival on the highest quality sound board that has been carefully mastered by the label. The set has arrived! ! First, the trio of Herbie, Ron, and Tony, who served as the opening night on August 29th, the first day of the event in 1986, performed two songs, “My Funny Valentine” and “Dolphin Dance,” and then the third song. Bobby Hutcherson joined from “Banquet”, and flute player James Newton also joined from the fourth song, performing “Stolen Moments” and other songs. Next, on the final day of 1986, the 31st, the trio of Harvey, Ron, and Tony was joined by Freddie Hubbard and, surprisingly, Joe Henderson, to perform the extremely rare “I” by the unusual V.S.O.P., a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that can only be heard here. Includes “Of the Hurricane”. DISC 2 began with “Maiden Voyage”, which featured Hutcherson in the “Super Trio” of Herbie, Ron, and Tony, who appeared on August 28, 1987, and two other songs, and then on August 26, 1989. “Speak Like a Child” performed by “The Trio” (the name changes from time to time…) of Harvey, Ron, and Tony, and a hitherto unreleased performance on August 27th. Also includes private sessions of Harvey, Ron, Tony, Hutcherson, and Wallace Rooney’s quintet, including “Maiden Voyage” and two other songs. By the way, on this day’s actual stage, they are performing as a quintet with Rick Margitza. So this is valuable! The Mount Fuji Jazz Festival was held for the first time in response to the expectations of fans. Meanwhile, Harvey, Ron, and Tony appeared on stage and were greeted by enthusiastic fans as they began to perform. From the first song, Tony’s exceptional drums explode (not out of control)! Inspired by this, Ron plays an unusually deep and strong bass, and although he is a genius pianist who can do anything, he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score for the movie “Round Midnight” this year, and Miles of the Golden Quintet era. Harvey, who has grown significantly more as a musical director/sound creator than as a player, is exceptional in his tight and dignified performance that tightens the overall sound. Of course, both 1987 and 1989 were filled with thrilling plays. Even so, Tony, who is full of monster feelings, is definitely the best! The anomalous V.S.O.P. between Hutcherson and Freddie, who are friends from the era of the new mainstream, who are unreasonably compatible with Harvey, and the soulful Joe Hen, who is completely different from Shorter, is especially worth listening to. how is it? You’ll want to listen to it! In fact, the private session with Wallace, the only trumpeter who directly advised Miles from 1985 until Miles’ death in 1991, will bring you to tears as the performance is reminiscent of Miles’ golden quintet days! !
