Description

This work was filmed at the Pullman performance on April 9, 1976, which was immediately after the band’s debut, just like the CD. This is a multi-camera pro shot that recorded the show at Washington State University, which was the first day of “North America #2″ according to the schedule. What’s surprising is the quality. It has been digitized from the master leaked by the people involved, but the visual beauty is exactly master quality. The natural coloring and clear contours are so beautiful that it feels like a sin that it hasn’t been officially released. Of course, the camera work focuses perfectly on the Wilson sisters, and the youthful beauty of Anne (25 years old at the time) and Nancy (22 years old at the time)… Of course, the show by these girls is also wonderful. Ann’s flute and Nancy’s acoustic guitar intertwine from the opening instrumental, and Roger Fisher’s guitar creates exquisite harmony. Although he doesn’t have the feeling of being a big name yet, his dedication to British rock is dazzling and gorgeous. The set is centered around “DREAMBOAT ANNIE” like the CD, but it is not the same. “Soul Of The Sea”, which was not played in the main Boston performance, was featured, and “Heartless” was selected from “MAGAZINE” instead of the title song. Also, the live atmosphere that can be seen from the scene is unique to the early days. It was very calm and different from the enthusiasm and excitement that is typical of so-called hard rock concerts, but the audience was focused on the band’s performance while enjoying the songs. The somewhat “see what’s going on” mood was due to the fact that it was a time when the number of fans had not yet been developed. Perhaps because they were in front of such an audience, the band seemed to be trying to overwhelm them with serious and tight performances. HEART at this time had a strong acoustic color, and was a kind of progressive folk-rock style early HEART. Even so, Ann shows off her intense high tones on “Heartless” and “White Lightning & Wine,” and Nancy lets you listen to the harmonious chorus work on “Dreamboat Annie.” Of course, Nancy’s guitar play was already impressive from this time, and in “Crazy On You”, the outstanding combination with Fisher was also beautiful and lyrical. Fisher’s guitar solo is also a highlight. Anne’s flute is featured in “Sing Child” and the melodious “Soul Of The Sea” shows solos that lean towards Jimmy Page, such as the second half. Covers of LED ZEPPELIN, such as “Rock And Roll,” which had already been a standard song for the band since then, are not included (according to one theory, they could not be broadcast due to copyright issues), but they are unified with the band’s original songs. The set list has a narrow focus, and you can thoroughly enjoy the wonderful show that is naturally praised by enthusiasts as “’70s HEART right after its debut was the best.” The entire video is less than an hour long, but the content is rich. In addition to rare repertoire from their very early days, this is 57 minutes of HEART’s most HEART-like era, including performances that directly reveal the influence of LED ZEPPELIN’s folk rock.
