Description
Hall & Oates ended the 1970s with the Top 20 hit single “Wait for Me.” The best soundboard album that conveys the scene is now available. This work includes “December 13, 1979 New York Performance”. This is a stereo soundboard recording of the FM broadcast. Hall & Oates made “VOICES” a huge hit at the dawn of the 80’s, but this work is set just before that. It was an act of “X-STATIC TOUR”. First of all, let’s look back at the schedule at that time and check the position of the show. 1979, September 21st: Oklahoma City Performance《“X-STATIC” Released in October》 October 9th – December 17th: North America (55 performances)←★Here★ December 31st: Upper Darby Performances 1980, January 25-27: UK (6 performances), February 1-6: Japan (6 performances) [“VOICES” completed in April] This is Hall & Oates in 1979/1980. “X-STATIC TOUR” was also held in Japan, but this work is the North American leg set at the beginning of the tour. This was the 53rd concert. This tour also has the excavation board “ECSTACY ON THE EDGE” left, but it is also about a month and a half after the Denver performance that became the basis for it. And, this work is a live album that is a CD version of the highest peak master of the FM sound board that broadcast such a show. The quality is just perfect. Even if you say “sound board” in a word, it’s actually a little hard to say, but this work is as good as it can be. The freshness with no noise or distortion is exquisite, and the broadcast itself, which is impregnable up to the mix, is also wonderful. It is a “completely official grade” exquisite product that is on par with “ECSTACY ON THE EDGE”. The quality is comparable to “ECSTACY ON THE EDGE”, but the show content is similar and different. Let’s compare and organize them here. Classics (5 songs)・Abundant Luncheonette: She’s Gone・Sara Smile・Rock’n Soul: Rich Girl/Do What You Want, Be What You Are・Others: Sweet Soul Music Foster Era (7 songs)・Red Fault: Don’t Blame It On Love/Alley Katz (★)/Pleasure Beach Modern Pop: The Woman Come And Goes/Wait For Me/Bebop/Drop (★)/Intravino (★) *Note: “★ ” are songs that cannot be heard on the official edition “ECSTACY ON THE EDGE”. …and it looks like this. The flow of the precious “The Woman Come And Goes” and “Don’t Blame It On Love” is reminiscent of “ECSTACY ON THE EDGE”, but you can also enjoy the three longer songs that cannot be heard on that excavation board. “Alley Katz”, “Bebop/Drop”, and “Intravino” are all rare songs that have only been played a few times. Although it is a summary of the 70s, it is a show that can be enjoyed freshly. Furthermore, the performance that spells out such a set is also wonderful. Jerry Morata & John Sigler’s groove is mellow, and the ensemble with the familiar Charlie Decent’s saxophone and G.E. Smith’s crisp guitar is exquisite. Of course, Hall & Oates’ soulful vocalization is also in great condition, and the 10-minute long “Sweet Soul Music” that also serves as an introduction to the members is also great. You can enjoy a valuable show unique to 1979 with a volume that exceeds the official version “ECSTACY ON THE EDGE”. That’s all there is to it. The very best official barefoot stereo soundboard album.
