Description
GUNS N’ ROSES returned to Japan in 1992 as a huge figure symbolizing the rock world… no, the music scene. The original recording has been brushed up and now available. This is the first of two titles to be released simultaneously. This is the best audience recording of “February 20, 1992: Tokyo Dome Performance”. They came to Japan twice for the “USE YOUR ILLUSION TOUR”, and the first act was also recorded in the official video “USE YOUR ILLUSION WORLD TOUR: 1992 IN TOKYO I & II”. First, let’s look back at the schedule of my two visits to Japan to remind myself of this situation. 1992, February 19: Tokyo Dome, February 20: Tokyo Dome ←★This work★ ・February 22 “TOKYO DOME 1992 3RD NIGHT” & Official Video January 12-15, 1993: Tokyo Dome (3 performances) This was the performance in Japan in 1992/1993, and all performances were limited to Tokyo Dome. The official video was shot on the last day of 1992, but this work was a concert one day before that. When it comes to “coming to Japan in 1992”, the official footage and TV broadcast on the final day are so powerful that countless soundboards have been released over the years. To be honest, the other days were hazy, and contrary to the huge presence of the band, the discovery of audience recordings was not good. “DISTORTION OF THE SENSES” changed that history. It was an original master given to me by the recording artist himself, but not only was it a full recording of “February 20th”, which I would be grateful to hear, but it was also of extremely high sound quality. The most wonderful thing is the clear atmosphere. Of course, since it is Tokyo Dome, it is not close enough to be called “just like a sound board,” but on the other hand, the clear core and vivid details make you wonder, “Is this a dome recording!?” Although it definitely absorbs the sound of the hall, it does not cause cloudiness or turbidity, and the performance sound and singing voice that penetrates the center are as vivid as a laser beam. This work is the ultimate brush-up album that maximizes the potential of such a famous recording. This has now been completely reborn. Of course, we are not trying to increase the sound pressure in any way. After re-digitizing, the pitch and phase were carefully corrected, and the balance of each range was also adjusted. In particular, the balance between bass and treble has been rebalanced. It may not seem like a big deal when you put it into words, but the results are huge. Especially strong is the deep bass. Although it clearly has more power and weight than the original sound, there is no blurring at all. Even the single kick of the bass drum is clear, and yet that attack kicks up the five organs with a thud, and the groove shakes the six organs. It’s amazing because it packs such a strong punch and is well-balanced with the midrange and treble range. What was permanently preserved with such an upgraded sound is a full show that is similar (totally) different from the famous final day in the official video. First, let’s organize the sets while comparing them. Fixed songs: Appetite for Destruction: Mr. Brownstone/Nightrain/Welcome To The Jungle/Sweet Child O’ Mine/Paradise City/GN’R Rise: Patience – Use Your Illusion I: Bad Obsession/Live And Let Die/Don’t Cry/Double Talkin’ Jive/November Rain・Use Your Illusion II: So Fine/Civil War/You Could Be Mine/Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door・Others: Attitude/Godfather Theme Daily Songs・Appetite・For Destruction: It’s So Easy・GN’R Rise: Move To The City・Use Your Illusion II: Locomotive (★) *Note: The “★” mark indicates the official video “USE YOUR ILLUSION WORLD TOUR: 1992 IN TOKYO A song that you can’t listen to even in “I & II”. …and it looks like this (each person’s solo time and the cover song played as an intro are omitted). The above is divided into “fixed songs” that were played at all three Tokyo Dome performances and other “daily songs”. Even though they change daily, most of them overlap with the last day, but the one that shines brightly among them is “Locomotive”. It is a song that has only been played on one hand during the entire tour, and of course it was only performed on this day in Japan, both later and earlier. You can experience such extremely rare songs at their finest. Of course, this work is not an album for one song. The performance itself was full of spirit, and there were plenty of accidents. First of all, regarding the spirit, filming was actually taking place on this day as well. As he said in the MC with an interpreter after “Patience,” he was clearly more excited than on the first day (February 19th), and the band seemed to be playing comfortably, as if being pulled by Axel, who was in a good mood. . It was in the second half of “Civil War” that the mood of the show, which seemed to be going smoothly, changed. As the song ended dramatically, the accelerator suddenly broke. Apparently there was a problem with the equipment on stage, and Axel almost hit something (a teleprompter!?), so he slammed the microphone and ran off stage. The scene was in an uproar as the show suddenly stopped. A Japanese staff member comes out and announces, “There’s a bit of a technical problem, so please wait for a moment,” as the guitar sounds like it hasn’t been used for a long time. After about 10 minutes, the accelerator returns, but the band jams during that time to maintain the pause. Those who have experienced the scene may remember the thrilling mood. That indescribable atmosphere comes back to life in an ultra-realistic way. The second night at Tokyo Dome was packed with rare songs, passionate performances, and thrilling troubles, as it was a performance in Japan during the heyday of the era, which reigned as a symbol of the times. This work is a cultural heritage album that allows you to experience such delicious scenes live with the best sound. The ultimate quality album that brings out the potential of original recordings in every way possible. The best audience recording of “February 20, 1992: Tokyo Dome Performance”. This is a masterpiece that has been polished by meticulous mastering of the original master that became a hot topic in “DISTORTION OF THE SENSES”, and the clear core and vivid details will make you wonder, “Is this a dome recording!?” Performance sounds and singing voices are as vivid as laser beams, and even the bass, which has more power and weight, doesn’t feel blurry at all. You can experience the best of a full show from its heyday, including “Locomotive,” which cannot be heard in the official video, and Axel, who breaks the show due to equipment trouble.
