Description
Now the “CHINESE DEMOCRACY TOUR” brings back memories. This is a superb live album that vacuum-packed the first day of the 2006 edition. This work contains the “May 12, 2006 New York performance.” Anyway, the “CHINESE DEMOCRACY TOUR” is a long period that lasts for a full 10 years. First of all, let’s check its position in chronological order.・January and December 2001: 4 performances ・August to December 2002: 23 performances – 4 years later – ・May to December 2006: 75 performances ←★Here★ ・February and June to July 2007: 20 performances – 1.5 years later -《November 2008: Release of “CHINESE DEMOCRACY”》 – 1 year later – ・December 2009 to December 2010: 76 performances ・October to December 2011: 41 performances That’s a total of 239 performances. It was a long, long decade, but it can be roughly divided into “2001-2002”, “2006-2007”, and “2009-2011”. The New York performance of this work was also the premiere of that “2006-2007”. In other words, the “21st Century GUNS N’ ROSES”, which had once started moving, went silent again, and after a period of four years, it was the first time it was restarted. It’s now a page of history, but at the time, the impact of the “first time in four years” was enormous. After all, while Slash & Duff McKagan’s VELVET REVOLVER swept the scene during the silence, the original “CHINESE DEMOCRACY” was not even expected to be released. Meanwhile, Buckethead left, and Ron Thal, who was said to be “a great hand known only to those in the know”, joined. The restart without knowing at all “what will happen next” … This work, which captured such a premiere, was very popular with fans who wanted to check it out with “live sound” as soon as possible. Of course, it’s not enough to be popular just because it’s a show that everyone is paying attention to. Even at that time, the exceptional sound was highly praised. Although it’s not a type that is “like a sound board”, the robustness and clarity of the musical sound are far from the audience. The high notes reach straight, and the “ringing” of the midrange is glossy and rich. The bass, which tends to be a weak point of audience recording, is also recorded with plenty of response. In addition to the musical tones, the applause that is absorbed realistically is also wonderful. It is not a recording that one voice enters loudly (never!), but the enthusiasm spreading at the scene is depicted with a neat sound. This mood is really delicious. As mentioned above, the joy of witnessing the restart of “4 years” overflows, and the great representative songs that are performed one after another are sung a lot, and the new songs are roaring. You can really enjoy the feeling of “standing there”. And GUNS N’ ROSES in front of that audience is also wonderful. Rather than being in top form, the tension of “4 years” comes first, but that is why the careful performance is fresh. And Axel’s singing voice, who has finally gotten motivated after a long rest, also stretches out pleasantly. Although the set list is now familiar, it is a live album where you can sing and savor each song as if to confirm it. Now that Slash & Duff have returned, this passionate performance is also a page in history. However, it is a page that certainly existed. Even now, this work is a masterpiece with good sound, good songs, and good performances. However, it does not end there. The time when we were still waiting for Axel while watching VELVET REVOLVER’s activities sideways. The atmosphere of the era when that finally came true. This is a masterpiece live album that depicts that music and mood with high quality sound. Live at Hammerstein Ballroom, New York, USA 12th May 2006 TRULY AMAZING/PERFECT SOUND Disc 1 1. Intro. 2.
