This is a live soundboard recording of Government Mule. Warren Heinz, who supported the Allman Brothers Band in their later years with twin guitars along with Derek Trucks, led this band. It is a jam band with a hard rock-oriented guitar and the ability to play long songs. This title contains a “Christmas jam” session that Government Mule hosted with a luxurious guest. The leading figure is of course John Paul Jones! Not only does he participate in more than half of the songs, but he also features “I Can’t Stop Loving You” and “No Quarter,” making his presence felt. In addition, Patterson Hood of the Southern rock band Drive-by Truckers sings on Neil Young’s “Southern Man,” so Government Mule is good at cover songs, and there are plenty of highlights to listen to. Ben Harper, who is a bit unexpected, also participates in two songs. This is a must-have title with one bonus track added. It’s probably an audience recording, but the sound quality is as high as a sound boat, so it’s probably necessary to put “probably” in front.
