From the North American leg of the 2024 solo “BURN” 50th anniversary tour, the performance in Harrison, Ohio on February 14th was recorded as a coupling of sound and video. First of all, the CD has a complete recording of the live performance on that day, with three good audience sources matrixed, for 97 minutes, and the exquisite stereo feeling is wide and the separation feeling is perfect, so much so that at first listen it seems like a sound board. Furthermore, while the video is a one-camera audience shot, the shooting position is from the front row directly in front of Glen, and of course there are no obstacles blocking the view, and the camera work without the need for zoom makes it feel like you are watching it with your naked eyes at the scene. And while the set marks the 50th anniversary of “BURN,” it is not a reproduction of the album but rather a best-of collection from periods III and IV. The level of reproduction is superb, with the tone and sound of the guitar and keyboards in particular being so good that it is easy to imagine Richie or Jon Lord playing. This collector’s edition is a must-have for fans of the old Purple albums and those looking forward to their upcoming Japan tour.
