Description

The first performance in Japan in 2018 was held in Osaka and Tokyo, and on April 9th, the Orchard Hall performance in Tokyo was recorded in full with the same quality as a soundboard. This was the first performance in Japan as Gizmodrome, which became a hot topic around the world as the appearance of a super group in 2018. First of all, this band was formed by a surprising group of members, Adrian Belew, Stewart Copeland from The Police, Vittorio Cosma from PFM, and Mark King from LEVEL 42. The debut album “GIZMODROME” was also a Copeland song, and these masters turned it into a bizarre and perverted pop sound, so the live performance is also highly anticipated. The anticipated set began with all songs from the debut album except for “Stark Naked,” and of course songs from each of their careers were also selected. First, Copeland performed four songs from the Police, “Miss Gradenko,” “Does Everyone Stare,” “Darkness,” and “Bombs Away,” as well as Clark Kent’s “Excesses” and “Don’t Box Me In,” a duo with Stan Ridgway. Belew then performed his solo “Young Lions” and Crimson’s “Elephant Talk” and “Thela Hun Ginjeet.” It was also interesting to see the four share vocals depending on the song, and there was a playful touch in which Belew sang the main part of Police’s “Miss Gradenko” and Mark sang “Darkness.” And of course, as the members boast superb skills, Copeland, who sings the main song, welcomes Pete Ray Begin of LEVEL 42 as a supporting drummer, but of course he shows off his stick skills here and there, Mark also joins in with high-speed slapping, and the rhythm section, which also includes Pete, is still powerful. And of course, if Belew’s perverted guitar is at full throttle, Vittorio’s keyboard, which brings together the three strong personalities, is also wonderful, and especially “Elephant Talk”, where everyone plays the lead role and their personalities blend together, is moving.
