Description

A live album that captures the night Ritchie Blackmore jumped in and participated in with 100% real sound is now available! This work is an audience album that captures the live performance of “December 7, 1978 Marquee Club”. The main point is that Ritchie and Ian Gillan are sharing the stage for the first time in a while, but first, let’s briefly explain how the two famously close friends came to work together. Ian Gillan at this time had just transitioned from IAN GILLAN BAND to GILLAN. It was about three months after the release of their debut album “GILLAN” that they returned to hard rock and started playing live shows. On Christmas Day 1978, the man who came to visit Ian was Ritchie Blackmore. At this time, Richie was not getting the success he had hoped for with RAINBOW, and fired Ronnie James Dio in an attempt to make the band pop. However, there was a time when we were having trouble finding a replacement singer. Then, at Christmas, I met Ian again, and at 8 a.m. after drinking all night, Richie asked me if I’d like to sing at RAINBOW. Ian’s answer was, “I don’t know if I can work with you.” However, Richie did not seem to be offended by the rejection, and a few days later he performed with him at a live performance of this work. Now, this work, which records such a monumental live, has only recently appeared on the internet. A CD has been released before, but of course it is not a copy, but was excavated from the treasured collection of the famous Scandinavian collector “Per-Erik”. The sound is extremely vivid and is perfect for GILLAN, which has been revived in a heavy metallic style. (The high pitch of the original has been accurately compensated for.) An aggressively driving beat, a sparkling keyboard with quick fingering, and a sharp guitar riff. Following them, a scream shakes the space of the marquee with its original metal voice…all of it is engraved with sharp edges that would break if touched. The show also shines with the metallic luster of a new generation of heavy metal. Seven out of ten songs from the new album “GILLAN” were performed, and Ian, who was 33 years old at the time, ran through his screams like a storm. The incident occurred during the DEEP PURPLE number, which was the highlight of the live performance full of new songs and metal. GILLAN drove the venue crazy with the last song of the main set, “Smoke On The Water,” and then began “Woman From Tokyo” for the encore. The audience, already intoxicated by the new band’s sharpness, was more than enthusiastic from the intro, but after about two and a half minutes, Richie appeared! This moment is amazing. The audience, which had been boiling up until then, suddenly exploded with tremendous force. Amidst the tornado of whistles and cheers, the guitar that slowly started playing was a true Richie signature. The guitar, which is completely different from Steve Bird and none other than Richie’s, explodes clearly. Moreover, the performance is also amazing. Aggressive phrases that you don’t often hear even in the original RAINBOW are overflowing one after another without stopping. After that, Richie is hardly introduced in the band introduction. While introducing each member, when Ian was staring at the end, Richie’s name jumped out from the audience who couldn’t wait. Ian, who was listening to the voice with amusement, said “Ritchie Blackmore” in a low voice as if to say that he couldn’t help it, and then it exploded again! “Lucille” begins as if riding on that blast, and the guitar goes even further crazy…it’s absolutely terrifying…. The long history of rock is full of miraculous co-stars, but even when you listen to the sound of some of them, there are many times when you can only think, “Maybe they exist…” However, in this work, the guitar, phrases, enthusiasm, everything hits “Richie is here” strongly. This is a documentary album that vacuum-packs GILLAN and RAINBOW’s collaboration, which was possible because they were both standing at a turning point in history, and the enthusiasm that only existed at the scene. Why not come and witness the miracle that took place on one night in 1978? Live at Marquee Club, London, UK 27th December 1978 TRULY AMAZING SOUND Disc 1(48:42) 1. Second Sight 2.
