Description
In 1978, Ian Gillan and Colin Towns relaunched the group, simply changing their name from “Ian Gillan Band” to “Gillan”. However, their first album “Gillan” was only released in Japan after Island terminated their contract, and it became known as “The Japanese Album”. This title is a complete reprint of that elusive album from the original master, and includes songs that are known to fans as masterpieces, such as “Secret of the Dance”, “Fighting Man”, and “Massage in a Bottle”. It was around this time that Colin Towns began to take the lead, and all the credits are GILLAN/TOWNS except for “FIGHTING MAN” and the instrumental “SECOND SIGHT”, and the guitar is focused on backing, making it an aggressive hard rock album. Most of the songs on this album were re-recorded and released the following year as “Mr. Universe”, so this is a complete reproduction of the original, making it a rare album that is now difficult to obtain. 01.
