Description
This is a superb stereo soundboard recording of a live performance by the leading baritone saxophonist Gerry Mulligan and the young Bill Charlap, recorded on June 28, 1988 at the Festival di Verona in Verona, Italy, from an officially unreleased live performance. This is a very valuable live session, as no official recordings have been made by these two. You can enjoy the baritone-like low voice and rich variety of gentle tones of Mulligan, the instigator of West Coast jazz, and the live performance with Gerry Mulligan, which was the catalyst for Bill Charlap’s breakthrough at the age of 22, who was active in mainstream piano trios at the time, in superb sound. 1.
