Description

The 1971 Concert for Bangladesh was not only George’s most important concert activity after the Beatles disbanded, but also one of the most important events in rock history. The movies and live albums that accompanied it have also reigned as rock classics. As for the movie, it was easily seen as a must-have item for rock fans in the video era, but it took a surprisingly long time to make it to DVD, and it was only in 2005 that it was finally made available. It was a long-awaited release, and the first edition was packaged in a box with bonus items befitting the release, which was enough to satisfy enthusiasts. Naturally, it was well received, and a regular edition that omitted these items was later released. However,… In the 2010s, more than five years after its release, this long-awaited item went out of print. I never thought a DVD of such historic live footage by former Beatles members would go out of print. In fact, there is no sign of a resale, let alone a Blu-ray version being released. Under these circumstances, in 2006, a satellite broadcast based on the DVD was realized. At that time, it was only seen as a broadcast of what was for sale, and even if many enthusiasts watched it, they would have ignored the recording. However, the meaning of this broadcast has now completely changed. A Bangladeshi movie that, for some unexpected reason, is no longer easily seen. For the time being, subtitles were added independently for the broadcast, but I don’t feel much of a difference from the 2005 version. Nowadays, although you can find used DVDs of both the first edition and the regular edition, they are no longer easily available with a premium attached to them. In the first place, nearly 15 years have passed since the release of the 2005 version, and there are probably many enthusiasts who have never seen this movie. This title will be the savior in these situations. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, the unreleased performance included in the bonus was not broadcast, but the main movie and the documentary made at the time of release were broadcast. It can be said that it is the most affordable item for enjoying classic rock footage that is difficult to obtain these days. Of course the image quality is perfect.
