Description
The GENESIS of the Ray Wilson era is a singularity that can no longer be erased from the feeling of dark history. The super best pro shot is now available. This work was filmed at the Katowice performance on January 31, 1998 (Poland). This is the multi-camera pro shot. In 1996, when Phil Collins announced his departure, GENESIS released “CALLING ALL STATIONS,” which was said to be “and only two people left.” The tour that bet on a comeback is also known for having a lot of professional shots left, probably due to the emphasis on promotion, but this work is one of the early ones. First of all, let’s check the show’s position from the schedule at the time in order to understand the situation. 1997, August 24th + 26th: TV appearance [“CALLING ALL STATIONS” released on September 1st], November 17th + December 11th: TV appearance 1998, January 23rd – April 5th: Europe (43 performances) ←★Coco★・May 30th + 31st: Germany (2 performances) This is the overall picture of “CALLING ALL STATIONS TOUR”. A large-scale North American tour was originally planned for immediately after the album’s release, but was canceled due to poor ticket sales. Although it was set up again with a smaller venue, it was canceled again, and as a result, only the European tour was held in 1998. The Katowice performance of this work was the fourth concert, which was the start dash. This work, which records such a show, is a truly superb professional shot. The video itself is one of the classic videos known from that time, but this work is the highest version. It is not a TV broadcast at that time, but a digital rebroadcast in 2011, which has been converted to DVD with zero deterioration. As a result, the image and sound quality are of perfect master quality, and the screen ratio has evolved from “4:3” to “16:9” at the time. Even now, 22 years after the live performance and 9 years since the broadcast, the visual beauty can only be described as “perfect official grade.” Everything seems to be perfect, but in reality, this work has its only and biggest flaw. It’s not a full show. The digital rebroadcast is an excerpt broadcast, and the four songs played on the day, “No Son Of Mine,” “Turn It On Again,” “Throwing It All Away,” and “I Can’t Dance” are cut. However, you can still enjoy the Wilson era GENESIS for about two hours. This is also a good opportunity, so let’s organize the contents here. Progressive rock era (5 songs), Foxtrot: Supper’s Ready (Lover’s Leap), Moonlit Knight: Firth of Fifth/Dancing With the Moonlit Knight, Dazzling Broadway: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway/The Carpet Crawlers. song)・And 3 people left: Follow You Follow Me・Genesis: Home by the Sea/Second Home by the Sea/Mama・Invisible Touch: Land of Confusion/Domino/Invisible Touch CALLING ALL STATIONS (6 songs)・Calling All Stations/Alien Afternoon/There Must Be Some Other Way/Shipwrecked/Congo/The Dividing Line…and so on. Naturally, the “CALLING ALL STATIONS” number is only played on this tour, and even the classics have been changed by Wilson. In just two hours, you can enjoy unique versions of famous songs that span not only the pop trio era but also the prog rock era, giving you a bird’s-eye view of their career. This is “the world’s most beautiful Wilson era GENESIS video” realized by a digital rebroadcast master with zero deterioration. Of course, even today’s eyes can’t help but feel a sense of incongruity, but there is no doubt that the music and performances were of an extremely high level. That’s why it’s interesting, and I want a live work that is an “official replacement”. This work is a piece that will cure that thirst.
