Description
This newly discovered stereo soundboard recording captures the Saratoga Springs performance on June 30th, part of the North American tour supporting the release of 1980’s “DUKE.” First, it was recorded directly from the master mixer, thanks to a leak from the insiders. The unprocessed sound is incredibly realistic, clearly reproducing even the subtle nuances of the band ensemble. Furthermore, the unreleased opening minute is complemented by a premium audience recording, providing a complete 1 hour and 57 minute rendition of the day’s performance. This tour’s nine tracks, more than half of the set, are from the band’s trio days, seven of which are from “DUKE,” meaning many tracks will never be heard again on subsequent tours. While the direct mixboard recording slightly lacks the live feel, the raw, unedited sound delivers unparalleled power in the band sound and vocals.
