Description

In 1973, GENESIS released the historic masterpiece “FOXTROT” and rose to fame as a leader of progressive rock. The best live album is now available. This work includes “January 22, 1973 Rome Performance”. This is the matrix album. Speaking of 1973, it is also famous for the traditional official live album “GENESIS LIVE” and its upgraded version “LIVE: TEST PRESSING 2LP”. Including that, let’s check the show’s position from the schedule at that time. ●1972・September 1st – October 4th: Europe #1 (20 performances)《“FOXTROT” released on October 6th》》・October 6th – December 8th: UK #1 (42 performances)・December 11th-18th: North America #1/Switzerland (3 performances) ●January 7th-22nd, 1973: Europe #2 (10 performances) ←★Coco★・February 2nd-26th: UK #2 (16 performances) ← *Official March 1st – April 24th: North America #2 (21 performances) May 7th + 8th: Europe #3 (2 performances) August “SELLING ENGLAND BY” Production of “THE POUND” This is the flow from the release of “FOXTROT” to “SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND”. “GENESIS LIVE” was recorded at “UK #2” in February 1973, but the Rome performance of this work was just before that. It was a concert known as the final day of “Europe #2.” GENESIS at that time was very popular in Italy. He has visited many times as the second major battleground after his home country of England, and in this “Europe #2” performance was held for three consecutive days at “Palasport (currently Palalotmatica)”. As it is so popular, this show has been known to be recorded for a long time, but this work is its highest peak. It was produced by overseas core enthusiasts, and is a masterpiece of the industry that matrixes audience recording and musical instrument sound board sound sources. In fact, the sound is exquisite and unique. The best part is the sound board recording of the performers. Anyway, it’s on and the core with a lot of directness reaches straight, and there’s plenty of response to the details. The increasingly complex ensemble jumps into your ears without any sense of distance. However, the soundboard is (for some reason) only the musical instruments. The vocals that ride there are recorded by the audience, so they arrive with a slightly recessed balance while wearing the venue acoustics. To be honest, it’s unbalanced, but it’s strangely listenable. GENESIS at that time was in a growth period where they were rapidly improving, but the ensemble is detailed in detail, and the vocals on top are full of fantasy with the natural echo unique to the audience. “Elaborate performance” and “swaying fantasy”… it is a sound that amplifies (to the extreme) two major elements unique to early GENESIS. And the show drawn with that sound is similar to “GENESIS LIVE” but different. Although the ensemble is close since it was only a month ago, you can enjoy “Fountain Of Salmacis” and “Supper’s Ready” that cannot be heard on the official version, as well as the MC that introduces the world of songs. “Fountain Of Salmacis” could not be heard even on the expanded edition “LIVE: TEST PRESSING 2LP”, and the masterpiece “Supper’s Ready”, which is played in full for more than 24 minutes, is still overwhelming. It’s not a perfect soundboard, but a little unbalanced. Although it cannot be said to be for everyone, the quality itself is unusually high, and even those who are not used to the audience can enjoy it. And that individuality amplifies and highlights the charm of early GENESIS…it’s a live album with a mysterious feeling. To begin with, being a maniac is not just praising things of low quality, but rather having the ability to see through the essence of something. This is an exquisite matrix album that was created by such a maniac who was able to see through the essence of early GENESIS.
