Description
Steve Hackett’s last “WIND & WUTHERING Tour”. The finest soundboard representing the world tour that produced the masterpiece “SECONDS OUT” has been upgraded. Two works polished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” mastering have been decided to be released simultaneously. This work is engraved with the second of such two consecutive works. It is a superb stereo soundboard recording of “March 25, 1977 San Francisco performance”. Two symbolic soundboards will be released simultaneously on the “WIND & WUTHERING Tour”, and the super masterpiece “DEFINITIVE ZURICH 1977” also reigns as a classic. In order to understand each position, let’s first look back on the schedule at that time.・January 1st-23rd: UK (21 performances) ←※SOUTHAMPTON 1977・February 2nd-May 1st: North America (45 performances) ←★Here★《May 20th “SPOT THE PIGEON” released》・June 2nd-July 3rd: Europe (22 performances) ←※DEFINITIVE ZURICH 1977《Steve Hackett leaves》《October 14th “SECONDS OUT” released》This is the whole picture of the “WIND & WUTHERING Tour”. The San Francisco performance of this work was the 36th concert of the “North American” leg. This work can also be seen as a trilogy with the simultaneous releases “SOUTHAMPTON 1977 2ND NIGHT” and “DEFINITIVE ZURICH 1977”. The former is a representative work of the early British edition, and the latter is a representative work of the final European edition. On the other hand, this work will be the representative work of the American edition, which is the middle part of the trilogy (by the way, if you add the representative sound board of the South American edition, “RIO 1977 2ND NIGHT”, it will be a world tour tetralogy). In fact, this work is a masterpiece that updates the best ever. The recording itself is the same as “WINTERLAND 1977” excavated in 2007, and the intro of the opening “Squonk” is (slightly) missing. However, the sound quality is much better as an upgraded master. The greatest beauty is the natural feeling. “WINTERLAND 1977” has been thought to be of master quality, but this new master is even fresher. I can’t decide whether the gene is different or the master has deteriorated, but “WINTERLAND 1977” had roughness in the left channel. In addition, due to the accuracy of the digital process, there was a distortion that seemed to have been applied to the overall sound, and there were some unstable parts in the volume balance. These are not felt at all in this new master. Of course, the conventional version was not noticeable if you listened to it normally, but now that you know the new master, you can’t go back. It’s clearly a master one rank higher. This work is the highest peak version that further polished such a new master with “GRAF ZEPPELIN” meticulous mastering. In addition to pitch and phase correction and noise processing, the volume balance is also stable in this work. In addition, the accuracy of the opening “Squonk” has been improved in detail. As mentioned above, this recording is missing an intro, but the original sound is also characterized by noise being mixed into one channel. That part needs to be converted to mono by deleting the noise channel, but the whole song was mono in the previous version. However, in this work, the stereo part is expanded to the maximum. The mono part is kept to about one minute. Such an upgrade sound is depicted in the middle show of the “WIND & WUTHERING Tour”. Let’s organize it here while comparing it with “DEFINITIVE ZURICH 1977”. Trick of the Tale, Squonk, Robbery, Assault & Battery, Dance On A Volcano, Los Endos, Storm of Silence, One For The Vine (*), Your Own Special Way (★*), …In That Quiet Earth (*), Afterglow, Eleventh Earl Of Mar (*), Gabriel Era Classics, The Musical Box (Closing Section), Foxtrot: Supper’s Ready, Moonlit Knight: Firth Of Fifth, I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe), The Carpet Crawlers, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway *Note: * indicates songs that cannot be heard on “SECONDS OUT”. ★ indicates songs that cannot be heard on the later representative SBD “DEFINITIVE ZURICH 1977”. …And so on. The single “Your Own Special Way”, which was not heard in the final “DEFINITIVE ZURICH 1977”, is shown, while “All In A Mouse’s Night”, which was only on the UK tour, and “Inside And Out”, which was only on the final tour, are not included. Although it is a step behind in rarity, it is also a live album with a tight and comfortable show flow. Although it is late to the tour championship due to a slight recording error at the beginning, it is the highest peak of the famous recording that has been upgraded to the masterpiece of the “North American” leg with the appearance of the upgrade master. This work itself is a masterpiece live album of progressive rock, and by combining it with “SOUTHAMPTON 1977 2ND NIGHT” and “DEFINITIVE ZURICH 1977”, the evolution of the tour can be followed with the best sound board. (Remastering memo) REMASTERED BY GRAF ZEPPELIN It is not a remaster of the previous edition Sirene, but remastered from the net sound source. This time, there is some hiss and it wobbles a little from side to side, but it feels delicate and pure, there is no roughness in the left channel that was noticeable in the previous version, there is no hiss reduction noise, and I think the first generation has been improved. In the previous releases, Disc 1 was loud, Disc 2 was small, and the overall volume balance was poor. This time, the mastering is done with a wide range (no compression applied). In the previous releases, the first song was mono at the beginning of the live performance, but this time it returns to stereo immediately after 1 minute and 10 seconds. In addition, the sound cut that occurs just before that is not as noticeable as the previous releases. *The original sound source does not include the sound of the left channel at the beginning for a little over a minute, so it is necessary to make it mono. The best stereo soundboard recording of the “March 25, 1977 San Francisco performance”. This is a newly excavated upgrade master, and it is a one-rank higher sound without the roughness of the left channel that was previously in the best “WINTERLAND 1977” and the distortion that seems to have been applied by noise reduction. Moreover, it is the highest peak board that has been further polished by meticulous mastering of “GRAF ZEPPELIN”. Although it is not perfect because the “Squonk” intro is slightly missing, it is a new masterpiece sound board that represents the North American leg of the middle of the tour.
