Description
Steve Hackett’s color was strongest in the “four-person era GENESIS”. Mike Millard’s original master, which allows you to experience the scene in the ultimate way, is now available. This work is recorded in the “March 27, 1977 San Diego performance”. It is a super-class audience recording. Millard usually only performed once per band, but he is such a fan that he has recorded GENESIS many times. The first time he experienced GENESIS was on the “A TRICK OF THE TAIL Tour”, which is also familiar from the masterpiece “BURBANK 1976”. This work is a live album of the “WIND & WUTHERING Tour”, which is also its sequel. Of course, this tour is also recorded in the traditional work “SECONDS OUT”, so let’s first understand the distance between them based on the schedule at that time.・January 1st-23rd: UK (21 shows) ・February 2nd-May 1st: North America (45 shows) ←★Here★ ・May 10th-22nd: South America (12 shows) ・June 2nd-July 3rd: Europe (22 shows) ←※Official SECONDS OUT《SECONDS OUT released on October 14th》This is GENESIS in 1977. “WIND & WUTHERING” was released in December of the previous year, and the tour started early on New Year’s Day. The San Diego performance of this work was the 38th concert of the main “North American” leg. This work recorded at such a show is, as always… no, even more superb than usual. The direct feeling of the core, the beauty of the sound, and the fineness of the details… it’s so perfect that it’s ridiculous to write them down. I tried playing it mixed with the official masterpiece “SECONDS OUT”, but there was almost no sense of incongruity and I couldn’t tell which one was playing. On the contrary, when I thought “Oh, the sound has improved”, it was this work. Moreover, it seems that this good sound was unexpected even for Millard himself. In fact, the position on this day was “row 16”, nearly 10 rows behind the sweet spot that Millard was aiming for. He probably took his seat half-disappointed, but the result was a better sound than ever. Was it because of the GENESIS sound system, which was said to be the best of the time, or did Millard miss the sweet spot of the “sports arena”? In any case, the magnificent sound of this work is proof of the sound. The tape ended without recording “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway/The Musical Box”, which was played at the end. It’s a mistake of the brush, but it’s a waste because the sound is good. Anyway, everything else is perfect. Let’s organize the set of this work while comparing it with “SECONDS OUT”. Trick of the Tale Squonk / Robbery, Assault & Battery / Dance On A Volcano / Los Endos Storm of Silence One For The Vine (★) / Your Own Special Way (★) / …In That Quiet Earth (★) / Afterglow / Eleventh Earl Of Mar (★) Gabriel Era Classics Foxtrot: Supper’s Ready Knight of the Moonlight: Firth Of Fifth / I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) Dazzling Broadway: The Carpet Crawlers *Note: The “★” mark indicates a song that cannot be heard on “SECONDS OUT”. …And so it is. Speaking of the masterpieces of the “WIND & WUTHERING Tour”, our soundboard album “DEFINITIVE ZURICH 1977” is also famous, but “Your Own Special Way” is a delicious repertoire that cannot be heard there either. You can enjoy it with the mirrored sound of a soundboard class … no, “official class audience”. The excavation project of the mirrored counted more than 100, and it was about to stop … It is a masterpiece album of GENESIS that came out when I thought. Even if you listen to this much, the depth of the mirrored sound that still surprises you with each new work is a superb audience recording of “March 27, 1977 San Diego performance”. Although the last “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway / The Musical Box” was not recorded, the sound is one of the best in the mirrored collection. It is super superb that there is no sense of incongruity even if you try to play it mixed with the official masterpiece “SECONDS OUT”. “Your Own Special Way” that can not be heard in “SECONDS OUT” or the soundboard masterpiece “DEFINITIVE ZURICH 1977” is also a delicious new masterpiece.
