Description
“LIVE: TEST PRESSING 2LP” and “DEFINITIVE MONTREAL 1974” are masterpieces that represent the Peter Gabriel era, transcending the official/unofficial distinction. This work is a studio live collection of BBC sessions that is the third stage and the real hit. GENESIS during the Gabriel era has performed studio live on the BBC several times, but only five episodes remain to date. This work is a collection compiled by overseas core enthusiasts, and has carefully selected the best tracks from currently known sound sources, including various air checks, as well as recent rebroadcast versions and broadcast originals. This is a compilation of the best versions. Of course, the entire story is a superb stereo sound board. Now, let’s introduce each program individually. [Disc 1: February 22, 1970 “BBC NIGHT RIDE”] Disc 1 contains three programs from 1970 to 1972. First of all, the session from the “FROM GENESIS TO REVELATION” era, when Anthony Phillips and John Mayhew were still enrolled. These are 5 songs recorded at Maida Vale Studios in London. Although “Shepherd”, “Pacidy” and “Let Us Now Make Love” are not as good as the official takes of “GENESIS ARCHIVE 1967-75” and “GENESIS 1970-1975”, “Stagnation” and “Looking” of “TRESPASS” which were not included there. Complete version of the broadcast, including “For Someone.” This live is not only a valuable live performance from the Phillips era, but also the oldest live record of GENESIS in existence, and it is a famous take that allows you to listen to the beautiful fantasy era of the 12-string guitar on the finest soundboard. [Disc 1: May 10, 1971 “SOUNDS OF THE SEVENTIES”] Next up are two songs that appeared during the “TRESPASS” era…However, after Phil Collins and Steve Hackett joined. Speaking of the “TRESPASS” era, only these two songs and the audience recording of the Belgian performance in March 1971 remain, and this is also a very valuable early record. On the aforementioned “1970 BBC NIGHTRIDE”, it was performed as a new song from the pre-production “TRESPASS”, but “The Musical Box” was also performed here even before “NURSERY CRYME” was produced. Moreover, it is performed in a version of about 12 minutes that exceeds the album version. Without even waiting for “NURSERY CRYME”, the effect of Collins & Hackett’s addition is tremendous, and the GENESIS world is blooming here at once. This is a superb historical take that allows you to enjoy the moment when the ideal model of progressive rock, which has created countless followers around the world, was born on a stereo soundboard. [Disc 1: January 9, 1972 “SOUNDS OF THE SEVENTIES”] This is 5 takes of 4 songs from “SOUNDS OF THE SEVENTIES”, which he appeared on again 8 months later (“Harold The Barrel” is the only 2 takes with a different mix) ). It was first broadcast in 1972, but is recorded here as a rebroadcast version on BBC6. This time, he will appear two months after the release of “NURSERY CRYME”, and the famous songs from that masterpiece will be on par. Combined with the aforementioned “The Musical Box”, there are 5 songs out of the total 7 songs on the album, and the second half of Disc 1 is a part that can almost be enjoyed as “a live studio performance version of NURSERY CRYME”. [Disc 2: March 2, 1972 “IN CONCERT”] The replacement disc 2 contains two programs from 1972. The first is the three songs “IN CONCERT” from the “NURSERY CRYME” era. It has always been an excellent sound board, but this one is generated directly from Pre-FM’s BBC Master DAT, and is several ranks higher. With the best sound of official quality, you can fully enjoy the live performance of “NURSERY CRYME”‘s masterpieces. [Disc 2: “TOP GEAR”, September 25, 1972] The last three songs are “TOP GEAR”, which appeared six months later. This is a performance that they have just started touring prior to the release of their masterpiece “FOXTROT”. In addition to FOXTROT’s “Watcher Of The Skies” and “Get’em Out By Friday,” they also played the rare song “Twilight Alehouse,” which was later released as the B-side of the single “I KNOW WHAT I LIKE.” I am. “Get’em Out By Friday” is woken up from the pre-FM BBC master DAT, and “Twilight Alehouse” and “Watcher Of The Skies” are used as rebroadcast versions from 2008. Master DATs exist for all three songs, but they were replaced because the rebroadcast version has slightly better sound. In this way, the selection of this work is ruthless and rejects even the master DAT of the broadcast song if the quality deteriorates even a little. To that extent, each take is carefully scrutinized and put together. This work is a live album that covers the BBC studio sessions of the Gabriel era that remain in modern times in the highest quality. However, the true value of this work is not only that. “LIVE: TEST PRESSING 2LP” was the pinnacle soundboard in 1973 and “DEFINITIVE MONTREAL 1974” in 1974. The following work is also one that covers the peaks of 1970, 1971, and 1972. In other words, with just this trilogy, you can listen to the history of GENESIS from the oldest live recording to “SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND” all at once on the top soundboard (and even the Broadway era! For those who want “ULTIMATE LAMB”) Virtuoso 051/052) and LAMB MASTER IN LOS ANGELES are recommended). Each take is not only a precious treasure, but also a book that spells out the early GENESIS like a history book. The first chapter of Gabriel GENESIS’s pinnacle soundboard history, continuing with “LIVE: TEST PRESSING 2LP”, “DEFINITIVE MONTREAL 1974”, and “ULTIMATE LAMB”. Please take this opportunity to add it to your collection.
