Description

The shocking masterpiece “Gateway” was released by ECM in 1975 as Abercrombie’s second album as a leader. At the time, he was considered the most talented guitarist who was promoting a new trend in jazz along with John McLaughlin and Larry Coryell. Abercrombie, who was already in Miles Davis’ group, was highly praised for his ability and was said to be leading the scene in the future like Abercrombie, and was attracting attention as a super trio with Holland and DeJohnette. The work is Abercrombie’s breakthrough work/early masterpiece, and has won many fans with its fresh, beautiful, and thrilling content that strongly attracts listeners. A rare one-hour recording of the precious live performance held in Germany on March 10, 1975, while the “Gateway” album was being produced, on a superbly high-quality stereo soundboard that has been carefully remastered by the label. After Abercrombie, Holland, and DeJohnette released two albums, 1975’s “Gateway” and 1977’s “Gateway 2,” the band went into a long silence. . After that, each member came to be known as a super-talented tycoon who formed their own family, and it was thought that it would be impossible for them to resume their activities. However, 18 years later, in 1995 (recorded in December 1994), they suddenly released their third album, “Homecoming” on ECM, much to the delight of their fans. The precious live performance held at a jazz club in Munich, Germany on July 25, 1994, before the album was recorded, has been carefully remastered by the label for an hour and a half to produce the highest quality stereo sound.
