Description

Gary Moore has been known as a talented guitarist since the 1970s, and has received high acclaim not only for his works in THIN LIZZY and COLLOSEUM II, but also as a solo artist with “GRINDING STONE” and “BACK ON THE STREETS.” I did. However, in 1980, Gary’s activities with G-Force, which he had been enthusiastic about, came to a halt in a short period of time, and he was at the mercy of the record company. In this era, there are not many types of live sound sources. Therefore, the appearance of the audience sound source of “GARY MOORE & FRIENDS” in this work “LOOK AT YOU” was a very groundbreaking event for fans. After the above-mentioned dissolution of G-FORCE, Gary decided to produce multiple works with the aim of extinguishing his contract with JET Records. A live album was planned as one of them, and Gary collaborated with former LONE STAR vocalist Kenny Driscoll, bassist Andy Pyle, who had a career in KINKS, as well as Don Airey and Tommy before joining OZZY OSBOURNE. Formed “GARY MOORE & FRIENDS” with Aldrich. They performed only four shows in November 1980, and made an official recording of the London “Marquee Club” performance on November 5th and 6th, producing what would later become “LIVE AT MARQUEE.” This album is a approximately 70-minute recording of their first performance as “GARY MOORE & FRIENDS” on November 1st in Ashford, England. The set list consists of not only the solo songs of “BACK ON THE STREETS” but also a variety of songs by G-FORCE and THIN LIZZY. The official work “LIVE AT MARQUEE” is characterized by the inclusion of many songs that were not recorded due to recording time constraints, and the order of the songs is also significantly different, allowing fans to enjoy the “true live performance” that is the advantage of audience recording. You can enjoy it to the fullest. In terms of sound quality, this disc is recorded with the highest level of audience recording at the time, exceeding the sources known among traders. Although there is occasional noise from the master tapes, the guitars, vocals, and keyboards are very easy to hear, and there are almost no places where there are too many inputs, so you can clearly hear the many rare songs performed by this valuable lineup. You can check. The live performance includes classic songs such as the opening song “Back On The Streets” and the second half “Nuclear Attack” and “Rokin’ And Rollin'”, and is the same as the “CORRIDORS OF POWER” tour from 1982 onwards. You can see the template in . It is impressive that G-FORCE numbers are featured abundantly between them, and especially “Because Of Your Love” and “She’s Got You” are plays that make you feel the goodness of the songs even more than G-FORCE. Among these, “I Look At You” is a rare number that has only been confirmed to be performed live on this day. The song features a melodious song with a slight pop feel, and the second half features Gary’s signature “crying solo,” making it the highlight of this album that fans shouldn’t miss. Gary captivates fans with his unique playing style and tone that instantly make you think, “Ah, it’s Gary!” the moment you hear any song, and at the same time, the band’s players also give memorable performances as the name “FRIENDS” suggests. Kenny Driscoll’s singing, full of pop taste, is also wonderful, but Don Airey’s contributions especially shine throughout, including “You”, the aforementioned “I Look At You”, and the instrumental arrangement of “Parisienne”. Walkways”, his playing and seasoning give the song a different look than usual. Also, Tommy Aldrich, who plays the drums, makes a sound that seems to be played with his bare hands during the drum solo of “Dallas Warhead”, and enjoys his characteristic solo. In the second half of the live show, you can also see selections from the pre-production “DIRTY FINGERS” and listen to the premiere “Nuclear Attack” with excellent sound quality. Furthermore, “White Knuckles” and “Rockin’ And Rollin’” close the main set with full force. The encore was the THIN LIZZY numbers “Toughest Street In Town” and “Run To Your Mama,” which were also featured in the G-FORCE live. Since both were only performed during this period, fans will be happy to be able to listen to live takes like this. This work, which allows you to vividly experience the live performances of those days that you could not know from the official live shows, is the one that many fans have been waiting for, as they learn about Gary from G-Force to his full-fledged solo career after 1982. It’s a book! If you haven’t heard this work yet, it’s a “transitional” show with the lingering scent of G-Force and a mood connected to 1982!
