Description
Gary Moore, a genius guitarist who passed away on February 6, 2011, about four and a half years ago. Another memorial album of his has been born. Yes, it is a 2CD album containing Gary’s last performance in Japan. Gary last visited Japan in April 2010. It was his first Japan tour in 21 years. The tour consisted of 5 performances in Tokyo 3 times, Osaka 1 time, and Nagoya 1 time, with the final performance being “April 28th, Tokyo International Forum”. This work contains a complete recording of that “last stage in Japan”. This “last stage in Japan” has already been released as “THE LAST CONCERT IN JAPAN (Zodiac 066)”, but this work is a completely different, completely new master. It was recorded by the familiar taper that made the Tokyo edition of ULI JON ROTH’s “SCORPIONS REVISITED 2015” and EUROPE’s “WINGS OVER KAWASAKI”. This is a completely original sound source handed over directly by the artist himself. This taper is good at recording heavy guitars, and has also shown its ability in the Kanto performances of MR. BIG, MOTLEY CRUE, WINGER, SLAUGHTER, and NIGHT RANGER. In fact, this work is also extremely clear and has a wonderful sound that is beautiful for each and every sound. From the high notes that stand out beautifully but do not pierce, to the richly grooving low notes, all the sounds are recorded in an ideal balance. So, if you ask, “I don’t need “THE LAST CONCERT IN JAPAN” anymore?”, the story is not so simple. “THE LAST CONCERT IN JAPAN” is a masterpiece that will let you listen to the ultra-high sound quality of the century that even a sound board is out of the question, and will make you say, “I’ve never heard such a recording!” However, (for some reason) only the vocals were recorded far off, and while listening to the performance, it was “the best invincible sound ever”, when listening to the whole music, it was “something strange” (I still wonder why this happened in the audience recording). In contrast, this work contains all the sounds, including the vocals, ideally, and the whole concert sounds extremely natural. On top of that, the musical sound has a core thickness that surpasses the sound board, and the venue reverberation is faintly wrapped around it. The best show that could have been heard on the day is enclosed as it is. This sound balance is even more weighty because it is the last tour. Gary is an undoubted genius guitar hero, but at the same time, he is also a tasteful vocalist. And this last tour is not a hard rock that screams forcefully, but a blues that is played and sung carefully. Since this was the tour where “vocalist: Gary Moore” shone the most, this natural balance is an irreplaceable charm. In fact, various blues songs are performed, such as “Walking By Myself” with its pleasant bouncing rhythm and “Have You Heard” approaching slow, but there are passionate and versatile songs, and their subtleties are recorded without being drowned out by the guitar. Gary visited Japan almost every year from 1983 to 1989, but after 21 years, the only time “live blues Gary” was seen in Japan was on this last tour. Yes, he spent half of his 40-year career on blues, but he only had five days in Japan. Moreover, after this tour in Japan, he performed his first and last performance in Korea, which was his last blues show in his life (the performance can be seen on the bonus DVDR “LIVE IN SEOUL” of “THE LAST CONCERT IN JAPAN”). In other words, this work is the final chapter of the 20-year “blues journey”. The guitar he played there blew away low-level topics such as “rock or blues” and let us hear the “hot Gary” that never changes no matter what the song is based on. The last song of the last tour’s final performance, “Parisienne Walkways”. The beautiful sound of the song and guitar flow into my ears, creating a deep emotional stagnation below my diaphragm. Because I can hear every word of the lyrics sung as if whispering, it’s even more heart-warming… Gary left behind a great take that seeps deep into my body. After 20 years, he delivered 102 minutes of blues to me. I hope that this CD, which contains the atmosphere of the scene and Gary’s passion that can never return, will be passed down forever on your shelf.
