Gary Burton was the driving force behind Pat Metheny’s rise to fame and his mentor. This recording features a reunion of the original quartet. The bassist is Steve Swallow, a mainstay of ECM, and the drummer is Antonio Sanchez, also known for his work with the Pat Metheny Group. The performance was held in front of a reasonably good audience, but the remastering upgraded it to a fully satisfactory one. The inter-song applause was noticeable, so the recording has been shortened and edited.
