Description

Eddie Hazel debuted at the age of 18 under the name Funkadelic as George Clinton’s guitar, and is the man who succeeded Jimi Hendrix. He served a year in prison for assault and illegal drug possession, and after his release, he left the music scene because there was already a replacement guitarist, and passed away in 1992 at the young age of 42. This is a wonderful DAT audience recording of a tribute live performance to Eddie Hazel that took place the following year. Since he recorded a very long live performance alone, including breaks, he had to change the tape in the middle, and the performance was cut off in the middle. This part has been edited and included on 3 CDs. The Black Rock Coalition founded by Vernon Reid, funk band Kelvynator, which released the masterpiece Refunkanation in 1992, Bernie Worrell, Boochie Collins, and other musicians who are related to P-Funk and admire Eddie Hazel, are performing. The album includes songs from Standing on the Verge of Getting It On, most of which Eddie wrote under the name of his mother, Grace Cook, as well as songs written by Eddie such as Music For My Mother and Soul Mate, and the more well-known Temptations’ Shakey Ground, which Eddie co-wrote, and the classic Maggot Brain, which Eddie played after hearing from George Clinton that his mother had passed away.
