Description
This is a live recording by the Mothers when Frank Zappa and the popular Terry Bozzio were enrolled. The Zappa band tends to be a large family, but this one has a relatively narrow lineup of members. The only wind instrument is Napoleon Murphy’s saxophone. A rock performance unfolds over Terry Bozzio’s elaborate drumming. Napoleon Murphy, who was the only wind instrument, was featured prominently in the album’s title song, “Changa’s Revenge,” and played an active role. Each part takes over the solo, resulting in a passionate performance lasting over 16 minutes. As usual, the performance that unfolds under the leadership of Zappa is a masterpiece, and “Muffin Man”, which also serves as a member introduction at this time of year, is also the best. After the 1980s, Zappa’s guitars had a clean tone through the Synclavier, but these days you can enjoy the distorted SG sound. Although it is an audience recording, the sound quality is so high that it even surpasses the sound board. The audience’s cheers were also nice, and the Zappa accompaniment was a nice touch. Highly recommended. Recorded Live at Palace Theater, Providence, RI, October 24, 1975 DISC 1 1. NAVAL AVIATION IN ART 2. STINKFOOT 3. DIRTY LOVE 4. HOW COULD I BE SUCH A FOOL? 5.
