Description

The second performance in Japan was realized as the sound of the collapse of the 6-piece formation was creeping up. The best original recording that conveys the scene is now available. This work includes “January 27, 1980: Nippon Budokan.” This is the best audience recording that records the whole story. Speaking of 1980, a huge tour that boasted the most performances in their history of visiting Japan was realized. Our store has also archived it with a masterpiece live album. In order to organize the collection, let’s first look back at the schedule at that time.・January 21st: Osaka Festival Hall ・January 22nd: Osaka Festival Hall ・January 23rd: Aichi Labor Hall “NAGOYA 1980” ・January 25th: Nippon Budokan “TOKYO 1980” ・January 26th: Nippon Budokan・January 27th: Nippon Budokan ←★This work★・January 29th: Fukuoka City Kyuden Memorial Gymnasium This was the highlight of a total of 7 performances touring 4 cities in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. It was 3DAYS at Nippon Budokan. This work is a live album recorded on the final day. This work recorded at such a show is an original master released for the first time in the world, given by the recording artist himself, and is exquisite in its vividness and freshness. There is a good old “Western music boom” feeling in the constant clapping, so you won’t mistake it for a sound board, but the atmosphere is very transparent, and the core that penetrates through the middle is vivid, and the details are delicate. What is especially surprising is Rick Willis’ bass. Normally, when it comes to 80’s audiences, the bass is weak, and they tend to be either too sparse or too loud. However, this work has a clear attack sound, and the line drawn by the continuous attack sound is also beautiful. It has a presence that rivals that of a guitar, but it doesn’t get too loud or muddy. Of course, the base is just an example. The other parts are equally vivid, and despite the thick six-piece ensemble that also includes Ian Macdonald and Al Greenwood, each note does not blend together even when they overlap. It is a clear recording in which each instrument draws a line in a three-dimensional sense of space. What is depicted with such a sound is a full show that is the sum total of the six-person era, which is a concentrated reduction of the initial three albums. The live performance of this era is also the official version “CLASSIC HITS LIVE/BEST OF LIVE”, so let’s organize the set while comparing. FOREIGNER (7 songs) ・Long, Long Way from Home (★) / The Damage Is Done / Fool For You Anyway / Cold As Ice / Starrider (★) / Feels Like The First Time / Headknocker (★) DOUBLE VISION (3 songs )・Blue Morning, Blue Day (★)/Double Vision/Hot Blooded (★) HEAD GAMES (6 songs)・I’ll Get Even With You (★)/Head Games/Dirty White Boy/The Modern Day (★) /Women/Love On The Telephone (★) *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on “CLASSIC HITS LIVE”. …and it looks like this. While playing plenty of big hit songs, there is also a rich repertoire that is unique to that time, such as “The Damage Is Done”, “Fool For You Anyway”, “Headknocker”, “The Modern Day”, “Women”, “Love On The Telephone”, etc. Our store also performs “I’ll Get Even With You”, which was not performed in the popular “NAGOYA 1980”. It is truly a treasure trove of masterpieces that sum up the six-person era, and it is also a musical work that can be enjoyed within the flow of one show. FOREIGNER was a 6-member band that set itself apart from the average pop band while creating catchy masterpieces. This is a great excavation of a live album that will tell the story of Live in Japan with the best sound. It’s hard to believe that such a recording had been hidden for 40 years without anyone knowing about it… I can’t stop recording the audience because I suddenly come across such a treasure. A piece that even reminds you of the real thrill of such a sound source collection. Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 27th January 1980 PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters) Disc 1 (43:33) 1. Intro 2.
