Description

Genuine Oomoto sound board sound source contained in a master cassette that was given directly by the person involved. Introducing an unprecedented piece that boasts amazing vividness. This work includes THE FIRM’s “May 20, 1985 Edinburgh Performance” by Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers. It is a standard sound source that has produced masterpieces such as “RADIOACTIVE SIRENS” and “PLAYHOUSE THEATER 1985”, but what we obtained from the people involved this time is the master cassette that is the main book. In fact, the sound flowing from that cassette has an unprecedented direct feel. It was a wonderful line sound from the previous release, but even that was on a completely different level, as if a plug was inserted into the ear and played directly in the brain. As with the previous episodes, there is a lack of tape change from the end of “Radioactive” to the beginning of “Live In Peace” and in the middle of “I Just Wanna Make Love To You”, but there is no fade processing in such scenes, The chopped reality boasts a vividness that makes you feel like the master cassette is right in front of you. Furthermore, this time, the original sound of the master cassette has been carefully remastered. Of course, we do not try to manipulate the rawness of the original sound. The balance, which was a little to the right, was returned to the center, and the pitch, which was slightly high, was adjusted just right. We focused on mastering that faithfully reproduces the sound that was heard at the scene. Since it is such a sound, Paul Rodgers’ voice is also at the “breathing” level. You can hear that singing voice that everyone covets and envies whispering in your ear. Rogers still has a beautiful voice that has never faded, but he was 35 years old at the time. He was at his most ripe age as a rock singer and on the verge of reaching his prime as a blues singer. In fact, the mellow singing voice that flows into your ears while listening to this work is exquisite. Each word sounds mellow, and the subtle nuances are truly delicate. However, he doesn’t sing in a contrived way like David Coverdale, and his tone alone exudes rich emotion. I don’t have the confidence to say that “this work is the best singing” because Rogers has left behind a number of famous songs from FREE to the present, but I can’t think of a recording where the famous songs are so close. If Rodgers is at the “breathing” level, Jimmy Page could be said to be at the “string vibration” level. It was a time when he was trying to move away from the “mirage of the airship,” so even in his glorious career, he was far from reaching his true potential, but that’s why he was so passionate about it. In particular, the emotional instrumental “Prelude” from “DEATH WISH II” is truly wonderful. The soul contained in the delicate melody is poured into your ears with a direct feeling that you can even hear the sound of the strings scraping. Furthermore, “Midnight Moonlight” shows the spirit of making a new start. It is a magnificent remake of the outtake song “Swan Song” of “PHYSICAL GRAFFITI”, but despite the DADGAD tuning, “White Summer/Black Mountain Side” is not touched at all. After this, Page gradually comes to terms with the legend in “OUTRIDER” and “COVERDALE?PAGE”, but here it is impressive that she sticks to her own world with a new partner: Paul Rogers. The new songs of their debut album “THE FIRM” are engraved with such a “world of two people”, but the one that is particularly impressive is “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling”. What a wonderful voice and guitar that subtly colors the gentle blues rock. Little by little, the color deepens, much like the lees that accumulate in wine. Then, in the middle, Page’s solo and Rogers’ singing intertwine, and at the end, Rogers suddenly explodes with emotion. This is a take with a deep flavor that truly brings together the essence of British blues rock. The new song is not the only thing that expands the “world of two people”. In Rodgers’ solo repertoire, “Live In Peace,” Page enthusiastically plays a passionate solo in response to Rodgers’ deep singing voice. As mentioned above, the beginning has been cut, but the second half, where the two people’s passionate, intense, and deep emotions intersect, is captured with stunning direct sound. This is probably a great part because these two people stand side by side. It’s not “LED ZEPPELIN sung by Rogers,” nor is it “BAD COMPANY played by Page.” Yet, the world of THE FIRM is only possible with “these two”. It is a live masterpiece that feels so close to you that you can almost touch it with your hands. This is the first film that was realized in 2015, more than 30 years later, and allows us to get closest to the “legendary duo”. This weekend, you’ll be standing between them.
