Description

deep. This is a truly profound vintage album. This work is a live album that was digitized directly from the original reel of the legendary TMOQ label masterpiece “PLYNTH”. The TMOQ label has laid the foundation for the audience recording culture with its many wonderful records, but I never expected that its original reel would be discovered… The weight of history and the depth of culture are eloquently expressed by the sound. Of course, what is being recorded is THE FACES’ “October 30, 1970 Santa Monica Performance”. Considering the masterpiece “PLYNTH”, the sound was so amazing that it was hard to believe it was made in 1970, and it was full of dynamism and clarity that transcended time and space, even in analogue recordings that have been passed down to the present day. However, in this work, which is the original reel, even the scratch noise and faint veil are removed, and the realism flows into your ears as if you were in the same room as THE FACES. Its rich sound is truly the finest vintage sound. Not only the pulsating rhythm section, the rolling keyboard, and Rod Stewart’s soaring passion, but above all, the guitar sound is wonderful. It’s so vivid that you can even hear the sound of the strings scraping, and Ron Wood’s pulsing sense of rhythm. It’s been about 15 years since the 21st century, but I wonder if even modern digital recording can record such a direct feeling… To be honest, I’ve been wanting to write the four words “super high quality” for a while now. However, if I were to write that down, it would probably come off as cheesy…the sound is so real, clear, direct, and romantic that I thought so. As the band approaches, the live sound plays exactly the British rock of the 1970s. Even if it’s light, it’s loose, and the dripping blues is endlessly mellow. In “Love In Vain,” the lightly plucked guitar dances in the silence, and the hoarse vocals and playfully exchange emotions. In a complete turn, “I Feel So Good” features layers of passionate passion over a beat that resonates in your hips. And the deep deep blues expression of “Blues Deluxe”… Even though it is an unmistakable audience recording, the extremely clear sight of 1970 spreads in every song. Although it is a sound that does not require the proviso of “for this era” or “for an audience recording”, the flavor of “because it is this era” and “because it is an audience recording” slowly oozes out. The reel unearthed this time records the second half of the show over 64 minutes. Therefore, the early songs “Wicked Messenger”, “Flying”, “Too Much Women For A Henpecked Man”, “You’re My Girl”, and “Country Comforts” are not included, but conversely, “Cut”, which is not included in “PLYNTH”, is not included. “Across Shorty” “Maybe I’m Amazed” “I Want To Be Loved” “I Feel So Good” “Had Me A Real Good Time” “Blues You can listen to plenty of “Deluxe”. …When I write it like this, it may seem like something half-baked, but when I listened to it, my impression was that it was more natural than “PLYNTH.” In the first place, “PLYNTH” itself was picked up from various parts of the show and edited in a complicated manner to match the analog recording time. On the other hand, this work is recorded as is, so you can listen to it naturally (although only the second half). This work is a live album where you can enjoy THE FACES’ best stage without any price tag. However, it transcends that dimension and is a valuable record of the audience recording culture at its dawn, and is also its masterpiece. Although it is a luxurious and top-quality vintage, it has the best rich sound that does not use the “taste of old” as an excuse. Please experience the rock vibration that transcends time and space.
