Description

The translation, which focuses on the interview after the release of “Just One Night” and is centered on the story of the DJ who is familiar with Young Jockey, is first of all interesting, and the content of the interview is so interesting that even enthusiasts will be surprised. This is a very excellent piece that can be enjoyed 200% by everyone from beginners to enthusiasts (this fun fact has been endorsed by famous Clapton researchers!). This edition includes the Eric Clapton special episode of the British BBC radio program “BBC Encore Hour” that was once broadcast in Japan. In order to respect the original English version of the program, the program features a famous Japanese DJ delivering a translation of an interview with Clapton. It seems that this program was originally produced right after Clapton released his live album “Just One Night.” While looking back on Clapton’s history through songs, interviews with Clapton are inserted between each song. This interview was very interesting, as the questions included quite serious content, and the content revealed important aspects such as Clapton’s humanity and attitude as an artist. He also answers questions that are not mentioned in his autobiography, so it will be very interesting for fans. The song selection is centered around Cream and Clapton’s live albums, but includes songs such as “Teasin’,” a 1970 session number with black saxophonist King Curtis. This song was selected because Clapton mentioned it as his favorite session during the interview. Also, Layla has an edited single version only in the first half, so it may be surprisingly rare. During the interview, he mentioned Queen’s Brian May as a guitarist he thinks is good, and also mentions Jeff Beck in addition to B.B. King and Freddie King as guitarists who have influenced him. It is typical of Clapton that he names black bluesmen as records that inspire him. I can definitely say that it was an excellent program that revealed Clapton’s artist characteristics and personality through a fairly in-depth interview. This disc contains wonderful sound sources that can be said to be first-class materials for understanding the artist Clapton, and is a recommended item not only for fans but also for those who are thinking of listening to Clapton in the future.
