Description
Eric Clapton, a legendary artist who is currently on a campaign to visit Japan. We have a lineup of high-quality sound sources from his Japan tour! This is the original stereo audience sound source from April 15th, the second day of the 5 consecutive performances at the Budokan in 2019. The master of this board is, of course, a different master recorded by a different person from “BUDOKAN 2019 DAY 2”, and is a first-generation master that we obtained independently. What surprised me when I listened to it was that this master sounded just as good as the release title. It was high quality in terms of clarity, sound balance, power, and stereo feeling. The taper was recorded in block A4. It is the front block of the arena. It can’t be bad. No wonder the quality was the same as “BUDOKAN 2019 DAY 2”. As mentioned in the review of “BUDOKAN 2019 DAY 2”, on the second day’s stage, the electric Layla, which was played for the first time in 10 years on the first day, was replaced with an unplugged Layla, which killed the expectations of the fans, but as expected of Clapton, he further improved the quality of his play and satisfied them. In the solo of Pretending, which started powerfully, he suddenly exploded with fast playing. This alone shows how well he was doing that day. In Wanna Make Love To You, which was set for the first time in 30 years, he played a wonderful solo that was full of song and flowing. This is exactly at the heyday level. In Hocchie Coochie Man, he played a solo that mixed in some raging fast playing, and in the postlude of I Shot The Sherff, he rarely stepped on the wah pedal halfway through to play a wild solo, and on this day Clapton showed no signs of “deterioration” due to aging, and showed that he was still at the same level as 10 years ago when he last played the electric Layla. Compared to the first day, the performance was clearly more cohesive, and the tone of the voice was also good. The fingers were definitely moving well. The flow of the second half of the stage returned to the pattern of the past few years, and the encore also followed this flow, with Paul Carrack singing High Time We Went, but don’t be disappointed by that. The play quality on this day was outstanding. It can be said that the play quality on this day was the highest of all five performances in Japan. As a little fun, the phrase that Clapton strummed in the introduction to the intro of Unplugged Layla was sprinkled with phrases from a famous Beatles song (see the end of this review for the correct name of the song). There were rock fans in the venue who quickly noticed it and cheered. In addition, this intro also includes the original version’s seven-phrase. This was quite a rare pattern. This is also where you can enjoy the different Claptons on a daily basis. *Correct answer: Eleanor Rigby Live at Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 15th April 2019 TRULY PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters) Disc 1 (60:55) 1.
