Description
In 2013, Eric Clapton, who had just finished his 50th anniversary tour, replaced his bandmates with new members and performed in Basel, Switzerland, for two consecutive shows on November 13th and 14th, in front of an audience of 1,500 people. The concert, entitled “Balloise Sessions”, was a two-day mix, and the upper version was gradually released over the course of several months, with the quality improved from radio broadcasts, WEBCAST, and TV broadcasts, greatly pleasing fans around the world. Incidentally, due to the broadcast time slot, three songs that were included in the WEBCAST version were not broadcast in the broadcast version. Therefore, we have added these three songs to the end of the album to ensure completeness. Therefore, we can state with confidence that this is the ultimate version of the “Balloise Sessions”. This broadcast version was selected by Clapton himself and instructed on the composition of the best takes from both days. The take on the first day, November 13th, was Knock On Wood, Got My Mojo Working, After Midnight, Call Me The Breeze, Driftin’ Blues, Nobody Knows You When You’re Down And Out, Layla, Pretending, Wonderful Tonight, and Little Queen Of Spades, for a total of 10 songs. The take on the following day, the 14th, was the remaining 8 songs. Almost half of the songs were recorded from both days. The acoustic set was recorded from a single day to avoid the chair position and direction changing. This means that Clapton ordered his band members, including himself, to appear in the same costumes for both days. Video recording was scheduled, and they had a thorough meeting in advance to select the best takes from both days. This fact shows how much Clapton put his heart into this performance. It is likely that this was because of his tribute to J.J. Cale. The five tribute songs to J.J. Cale speak to the significance of this concert, and the new arrangement of After Midnight is especially worth a listen. You should also take a good look at Clapton’s eye-opening solo in Gin House, featuring Andy Fairweather Low on vocals. As Clapton resumes his activities, just the other day, he has begun a new “final chapter,” and we are releasing the best version of “The Baloise Sessions,” one of the most striking videos in recent years. Please add this to your collection as a valuable page of Clapton’s recent career, which has reached its culmination.
