Description
From the masterpiece series of CDs released by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab under the brand name “Ultradisc?”, Eric Clapton released this album with his signature nickname, and it reached number 2 on the US album chart. We have a lineup of the masterpiece “Slowhand” released in 1977, which became a huge hit! This CD was released in October 1991, prior to the previously introduced “Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs” and “461 Ocean Boulevard.” Like those, it was produced in limited quantities by borrowing the American 2-track original master tape from Polygram Records (now Universal) at the time, but in terms of sound, CDs usually emphasize the high and low frequencies. , the midrange was poor, giving it the often said “clunky” impression, but this CD, like other CDs, gives the impression that all the ranges are well-balanced and harmonious. In particular, the sound of the first media known as the “compact disc” had a sharp treble that pierced the ears, which was once misunderstood as “clear.” In comparison, on this CD, the clarity of each instrument and the delicate sound of the vocals stands out. In other words, this was the result of faithfully reproducing the original analog master. This album is literally a masterpiece that you cannot avoid if you are a Clapton fan or if you are planning to listen to Clapton from now on. This is because it includes famous songs such as Cocaine, Wonderful Tonight, and Lay Down Sally, which are still standard at concerts, and because more than half of the nine songs, five of them, are Clapton’s original numbers. It was a work that showed his growth as a writer, and in particular, the guitar solo in The Core was a full-throttle slow-handed play that gave us a glimpse of the glorious glory of the Cream era.The front jacket features Clapton. It was an excellent concept that expressed the identity by focusing on a photo of a Blackie Strat with a toggle switch set between the rear pickup and center pickup, rather than the actual appearance of the guitar. In a sense, like “BLIND FAITH,” this album had the sound of a rock band with the minimum lineup of guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard, so it was worth “refining” the sound of the original analog master. . Therefore, this work has been positioned as a work that has been at the center of the competition for higher sound quality in Clapton’s catalog since then, both on CD and LP. Most of the songs were recorded live in a studio, and what conveys that atmosphere is the vividness of the musical sounds and the “clearness of silence” in the quiet parts, but this CD allows you to fully enjoy the sharpness of these areas. I think you can get it. If you listen to this edition, you won’t be able to listen to the first edition regular CD again. On the other hand, the master used for this album was originally the master tape of the original US edition that was used in 1977 when Polydor Records, the distributor of RSO Records, produced this album. As I mentioned, in the 2008 Universal fire, most of the artists’ original American master tapes were destroyed, and the American analog master tape of “Slowhand” was also destroyed, so it is no longer available. It is now impossible to remaster the US master with higher sound quality than the main version. If you think about it, I think it’s good to experience the sound of this board at least once.
