Description
Introducing a truly valuable and fun planning board. There is a work with the same title on The Who’s official edition, but this edition is a collection of Eric Clapton’s treasured session sound sources, and is not a collection of studio outtakes like the Who version, but a collection of songs with other artists. This is a collection of live sessions. In other words, it is a collection of live takes where Clapton jumped onto the stage of other artists with whom he interacted, rather than his own leader band, and performed together at events. Moreover, the period recorded is concentrated only in the 1980s, when Clapton almost overcame alcoholism and returned to a form full of vitality and was playing. Speaking of the sound quality of each song, we have collected only the finest stereo audience sources, so you can listen to them with confidence. Until now, Clapton’s session collection has been released as a bootleg, but this edition collects treasured takes that will make even core enthusiasts groan. There are some sound sources that were known to the core European Clapton traders, but for Japanese fans there are also surprising sound sources that were released for the first time on this album. That’s no wonder, the person who edited this edition was none other than Taper himself, a heavyweight in Clapton’s home country of England. This album generously provides a collection of treasured sound sources that only he possessed. To explain step-by-step, disc 1, 1.2., is the one that jumped into Lionel Richie’s London performance, where Clapton participated in the album at that time, and even after the performance of 1. of the studio version in which Clapton participated. It is precious that he remains on stage and plays 2. 3. is a take when one of Clapton’s best friends, Elton John, jumped into the MSG performance, and the song selection Rocket Man is extremely rare. The next song was performed at an event held in London in 1989 sponsored by the Parents Association for Food Safety, with George Harrison serving as MC. Conductor Michael Kamen led the orchestra at this event, and the song became the theme song for a television drama recorded in collaboration with him. The following five songs are from 1983, when I performed at a “Save the Children” event with Chas & Dave, a British pub rock duo I was close friends with. It captures the excitement of the band’s favorite blues numbers and rock’n’roll numbers, which are perfect for sessions. It is noteworthy that Goodnight Irene, which Clapton still listens to, is being played. In the take recorded on this edition, this part is a very valuable sound source that will be released for the first time in Japan. The last part of Disc 1 is a co-starring number with Elton again. This song is so famous that it has multiple takes as a collaboration between the two, but it is unusual that TOTO’s Steve Lukather participates here. Disc 2 contains two live sessions featuring Clapton’s beloved black blues guitarist, Buddy Guy. Both songs were played when Buddy had a gig at a club in London, and you can still enjoy the guitar battle between Buddy and Clapton, who play so much. If anything, it’s interesting that the songs have become an accessory to the guitar battle, and the songs could have been anything blues. In any case, you’ll be full from watching the two play for a long time. In reality, the session between the two continued with more songs than are included here, but since there was no end to it (lol), the best plays have been selected and included here. It can be said that this is the perfect project to learn about Clapton’s talent and skills, which are wonderfully flexible not only in his own music but also in sessions with other artists. This is a collection of sound sources exclusively for advanced fans that we would like to listen to, not only to core Clapton enthusiasts, but also to general rock fans as a topic of conversation such as “Wow, I was working with this person!”.
