Description

The classic analog boot from the legendary OG label, which left its name in the history of bootlegs, has finally been completely reprinted! The analog bootleg “ON” containing Eric Clapton’s 1977 Japan performance, which has not been released on CD at all because the master has not been leaked, is traded at a premium price of 30,000 to 50,000 yen on the used disc market. TOUR”. This was created based on the stereo audience master that the OG label staff recorded at the time with a high-end recorder during the 2-day Osaka performance from a good position in the center of the front row of the venue on both days. It was released as a two-disc analog set at the time, but due to analog capacity issues, the best takes from both days were selected and recorded. There are also CD boot tracks produced from different audience masters on the same day, but STORMY MONDAY has the disadvantage of having hard-to-hear digital noise, and the overall sound quality of “ON TOUR” is very poor. It didn’t even come close to that. Our store has recently acquired the original master disc in very good condition. We have achieved a perfect reproduction by digitally removing scratch noise and correcting the sound balance. There are many takes of the first day performance on September 26th here, but that is only because Clapton’s play on this day was clear. In addition, it includes the medley of BLUES POWER?HAVE YOU EVER LOVED A WOMAN, which was only played on the second day, making it the culmination of the Osaka performance. From the opening number with Clapton’s wah-wah pedal, to his dignified blues play, to the long solos of TELL THE TRUTH and LAYLA, interspersed with an acoustic set where Martin plays standing up. . In particular, this LAYLA can be said to be a killer take that you must listen to at least once if you are a Clapton fan. The solo play lasts a long time, which is incomparable to the same song from the 90’s, and the harmony solo is woven together with second guitarist George Terry. It can be said that LAYLA who has been so passionate is rare even in his career. Furthermore, as a bonus unique to a CD with a large recording capacity, this edition contains takes that were not included in “ON TOUR” from the stereo audience master of the second day performance in Osaka. These bonus tracks are recorded with sound quality that boasts a clear and outstanding sound balance that is as good as the main volume. The master uses the previously released one, but our store has remastered it independently. What has been improved in the remaster is that the pitch, which was 15% lower, has been correctly corrected. Also, the bass range was too strong, so we reduced it and balanced it with the mid-to-high range, giving it a richer sound quality. In addition, the left-right balance was corrected so that it was unbalanced depending on the scene, the momentary sound dropout in more than a dozen places was corrected, and the hiss noise was reduced to a level that did not spoil the taste of the original sound source. It is recorded with excellent sound quality and sound image. According to a person who knew the OG label at the time, there was talk about recording both takes of LAYLA because there was such a difference in play quality between the first and second day. However, due to the capacity of the analog disc, we decided to use other songs that would not be duplicated, so we settled on the final version. LAYLA, who developed a tremendous play on the first day, on the second day, Clapton was amused by the feedback that happened by chance, and played with it all the time, making it a somewhat unusual take. Please enjoy the difference between the two takes. Furthermore, the BOTTLE OF RED WINE played here was the first live performance since the “Rainbow Concert” in 1973. Clapton probably liked this performance in Japan, and it seems that this led to him including this song in the set for 1978.
