Description
We’ve also acquired a superb stereo audience master of the previously unreleased Cincinnati performance from the second leg of Eric Clapton’s 2010 American tour! This is yet another release of a stunning, previously unreleased master, brought to us by a new overseas network that has recently gained a strong reputation for its Eric Clapton archives! This title is a complete recording of the June 30th Cincinnati performance, the second day of the tour, from the second leg of Clapton’s American tour, which he undertook immediately after the 3rd Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2010. This superb, previously unreleased master from this taper will be released simultaneously. The audio from this day has never been released before, making this the first ever release of this material, so it’s definitely worth paying attention to. And what we must emphasize most is that this master is also a superb stereo audience recording. The band’s music and vocals are captured perfectly, resulting in truly superb sound quality. I take my hat off to this taper for providing two days’ worth of superb masters of recordings from the second leg of Clapton’s American tour, which had never seen the light of day before. This year was one of the most fulfilling in Clapton’s live performance history, with joint tours with old friends Jeff Beck and Steve Winwood, as well as hosting his own “Crossroads Guitar Festival.” It was a busy but fruitful year in which he succeeded in everything. Moreover, this solo tour was all Clapton on guitar. He approached the tour with the resolve to bear the burden of all the guitar work himself. That’s why Clapton’s playing heard on this album is tremendous throughout. Please look forward to it. Incidentally, organist Walt Richmond was a band member of J.J. Cale, whom Clapton greatly admired, and although he couldn’t bring J.J. himself along, he did bring along the band members. This shows how much Clapton admired J.J. Cale. This is the first recording capturing Clapton’s peak solo tour in 2010! Let’s take a look back at Clapton’s activities that year. • February 13th & 14th: Joint concert with Jeff Beck at the O2 Arena in London. • February 16th: Appeared at the “Plastic Ono Band 40th Anniversary Concert” at the BAM Howard Gilman Opera House in New York, performing with Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon. • February 18th – 22nd: Short American tour with Jeff Beck. • February 25th – March 13th: American tour with his own band (first leg). • May 18th – June 13th: Joint European tour with Steve Winwood. • June 26th: Held the 3rd Crossroads Guitar Festival at Toyota Park in Illinois. • June 28th – July 3rd: Short American tour with his own band (second leg) ←★HERE★ <September 27: Album “CLAPTON” released>> October 23: Performed at a charity concert for former US President Clinton’s fund at St. John the Divine Church in New York November 2: Appeared on the music live program “Later with Jules Holland” at the BBC Studios in London November 17: Performed at the “Princes Trust” concert held at the Royal Albert Hall in London December 31: Held the annual “New Year’s Eve Dance” in Woking, Surrey, England Looking at this, it is clear that Clapton was extremely busy from the beginning of the year, touring with Jeff Beck and Steve Winwood, performing at numerous events, hosting his own “Crossroads Guitar Festival,” and producing a studio album. Conversely, this shows just how passionate Clapton was about his work. And Clapton achieved success in all of the activities listed here. At the time, Clapton had reached the senior age of 65, but it’s clear that his vitality hadn’t waned. Moreover, despite having such major events lined up, he was still diligently carrying out his own leader tour. This film captures the second day of the second leg of his American solo tour. Looking at the setlist, it’s completely different from the first leg in early spring, and is a fascinating setlist packed with rare numbers. Furthermore, unlike the Milwaukee performance on the first day of the tour, this day opened with Going Down Slow. He also played Tell the Truth. On the other hand, he didn’t play After Midnight, but the rare number Tuff Luck Blues was still included in the set, and the first half was concluded with a powerful performance of I Shot the Sheriff. Moving into the acoustic set, just like in the first leg, he played I’ve Got A Rock N Roll Heart from the 1983 album “MONEY AND CIGARETTES”. This acoustic version is really heartwarming and well done. This song was only performed live this year, outside of the 1983 tour, so please enjoy it thoroughly. Furthermore, they included “When Somebody Thinks You’re Wonderful,” which was scheduled for release on September 27th, adding to the heartwarming atmosphere. They continued this momentum in the second half, pushing forward with their top-notch playing. The solo in “Badge” is aggressive and good, but on “Little Queen of Spades,” a killer solo explodes once again. The other members take turns playing solos, but Clapton’s playing to conclude with a solo is simply amazing! The solo in “Cocaine” is also brilliant, and the relentless barrage of playing in the second half and towards the end is a structure that can be said to be the epitome of a Clapton concert. This is a superb recording of the 2010 Cincinnati performance, which has not been released anywhere else and is being released for the first time.
