Description
The first day of the Euro tour after the release of “August” in 1987, the performance in Rotterdam, Netherlands on January 16th, was recorded in full for 1 hour and 47 minutes from the highest quality audience master ever. This is the original master tape of the audience sound source that has been distributed in the past, and has been re-released with pitch adjustment and the latest digital remastering. Incidentally, there is also a soundboard recording of this day, but since it is a broadcast sound source, several songs have been cut, so if you want to listen to the full version, this is the one to go for. And the biggest point of this tour, which was carried out with a completely new backing band, is that Mark Knopfler participated fully, and the set list has changed drastically from the previous 1985 tour, and the live performance that starts with a raging “Crossroads” is so fresh. As expected, Knopfler’s playing is superb at key points, particularly on the 17-minute-plus “Same Old Blues,” “I Shot the Sheriff,” and “Miss You,” as well as the thrilling “Layla.” Knopfler’s unique arrangements and contemporary sound make this a must-listen for fans.
