Description

This is the first release in Japan, a complete recording of the Rainbow Theater performance in London on February 5, 1981! Although the source was recently uploaded to the Internet, this is not the audience source of the Budokan performance on December 3, 1979, which was once booted and camouflaged as if it was the performance of that day. It is the genuine first appearance of the Rainbow Theater performance in 1981. However, the original source on the Internet had a fatal flaw. As will be described in detail later, this flaw was brilliantly eliminated by our professional engineers’ safe and reliable mastering, and the quality of the clear and good stereo audience recording worth listening to is the main board! First of all, before explaining the sound quality, let’s check in chronological order what this performance meant in Clapton’s career. <<Recorded the live album “JUST ONE NIGHT” at the Budokan concert during the Japan tour in December 1979>> <May 1, 1980: Release of the live album “JUST ONE NIGHT”>> ・May 2-18, 1980: UK tour <<July-August 1980: Recorded the album “ANOTHER TICKET”>> ・September 19-29, 1980: Short-term Scandinavian tour <<February 1, 1981: Release of the album “ANOTHER TICKET”>> ・January 31-February 5, 1981: Short-term Irish tour ←★Here★ ・March 2-, 1981: Started a long-term North American tour, but on the 14th, after eight shows, he collapsed with a pancreatic ulcer and was rushed into hospital. He spent the rest of the year recuperating until autumn. In the spring of 1980, Clapton’s band was joined by former Procol Harum leader Gary Brooker, who had joined the band. The recording of the album “Another Ticket” was completed smoothly, and the Scandinavian tour in the fall to check the feel of the new set including the new songs was also a success. After three months off, Clapton regained his energy and set off on an Irish tour in high spirits ahead of the release of the new album. To conclude the tour, he returned to his home country and appointed his favorite pub rock duo, Chas & Dave, as the opening act for this album. “Brighton 1980,” which we recently released, was also a recording of the tour after Brooker joined, but it was a tour in which the popular song Layla was intentionally removed from the set. However, this album brings it back again, and includes Muddy Waters’ blues song Blow Wind Blow from the new album. In addition, Brooker’s specialty A Whiter Shade Of Pale is being performed with great enthusiasm. When Brooker heard the news that he had joined the Clapton band, many fans would have wanted to listen to this song with Clapton’s guitar backing. Not only did the set change from the previous year, but Clapton’s play on this day was also amazing! He played an emotional crying play with a slow and fast tempo, and then an aggressive play like cutting into a wah. It was a stage where there was no sign of him falling ill the next month. Listen to A Whiter Shade Of Pale, because of the clear sound quality, Clapton’s overly emotional play caused spontaneous applause from the audience at the venue. Clapton’s Blackie was crying. Clapton was in good shape that day. Yes, being able to listen to the performance as it is in real life is also a victory of our mastering. The original source on the net was in a state where the tape pitch was 100 to 150% higher than the semitone. This is unbearable to listen to. It would have been far from enjoying the wonderful play. Conversely, you can see that Cocaine, which is listened to at the correct pitch, was played so slowly and carefully. And as a bonus, it captures the development where Chas & Dave, who were the opening act, join the Clapton band after the encore. From there, it is a composition of four familiar rock and roll songs. The venue suddenly turns into a London pub. This mood is unique to Clapton’s hometown. It means that it was not like this in Ireland. Listen to the first sound source from the time of filling the “JUST ONE NIGHT” after the mastering of our shop. Please enjoy it to the fullest.
