Description
Eric Clapton achieved an unprecedented record in the British entertainment industry with the 24 consecutive nights of the Royal Albert Hall in 1991. This was released as the official live album “24 Nights”, but it was merely a compilation of four shows. The main board released by our shop this time is a 6-disc set that is completely recorded from the best stereo audience master that we obtained exclusively for the last three days (March 7th, 8th, and 9th) of the “Orchestra Night”, which decorated the beautiful end of the consecutive performances. The previously released version of the 7th performance had a title, but although the source is the same tape trade sound source, the master of this board has a longer opening part, the Lay;la Orchestra Intro is contained from the beginning, and there is no gap between the songs before “Holy Mother” that was on the previously released board. Therefore, you can see that this board is a completely different low generation master, although it is the same source as the previously released board. Due to the reverberation, the sound quality was probably a little far from the stage, but the sound quality is much clearer and better than the bonus title “ORCHESTRA NIGHT 1991 4TH & 5TH March” released by our shop recently, so it can be said that the audience recording level is definitely high quality. The tape change parts seen in two places are also no problem between songs. Regarding the performance on the 8th, the entire performance is recorded with superb sound quality with no defects. Moreover, since there is no previous release on this day, it can be said that it is a very valuable first appearance master. Of course, the master of this day is also a low generation master that we obtained exclusively this time. Speaking of sound quality comparable to our previously released board “EXCELLENCE & ELEGANCE”, you can understand the quality. Regarding the performance on the 9th, there was a previously released version included in the press box set, but due to the direction of the string instruments of the orchestra and the difference in audience noise, it turned out to be a completely different high-quality master. Moreover, the sound quality of this version is clearer, the sound image of this version is more expansive, and the sound is deeper. However, for some reason, this master contains parts with inferior sound quality only in the White Room. This is the only flaw, but in total, it is the first appearance master with a quality that exceeds the previously released version, and you can enjoy the whole picture of the magnificent performance of this day with the same superb sound quality as the master on the 8th. The songs that Clapton and the band play with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by classical musician Michael Kamen, who was active in New York and got along well with Clapton through the movie soundtrack, were diverse, including blues, original hit songs, and movie soundtracks. It’s good to hear blues played with an orchestra, but the essence of this “Orchestra Night” was the two-part Concerto For Electric Guitar. It is said that in the initial rehearsals of this concerto, which Kamen wrote for Clapton, the orchestra played exactly as written, and Clapton, who could not read the score and played the memorized composition with his own sense of rhythm, had a hard time. However, Clapton overcame this and put his entire career on the line, and all three days of this one-shot performance were perfect and error-free. The unique “Orchestra Night” demonstrated the breadth and depth of Eric Clapton as an artist. This album, which realistically conveys the three days leading up to the final performance, will allow you to understand its true essence.
