Description
The Eric Clapton release is the longest uncut multi-track master brought to you by the familiar British heavyweight Taper. The contents were indeed the classic soundboard sound source from the previous year’s “18 Nights” which led to the 1991 record-breaking “24 Nights” on January 24, 1990! Speaking of “18 Nights”, it was a four-piece band performance at the Royal Albert Hall which was broadcast on BBC FM at the time and later aired as a pro-shot video. The quality of the performance was so outstanding that some of it was even used on disc 1 of the official live album “24 NIGHTS”. That’s why, as a live performance capturing Clapton in his prime after the release of the album “JOURNEYMAN”, in the past, many previously released albums containing soundboard sources recorded from FM radio broadcasts or soundboard sources copied from a 4-disc radio show analog disc were released, and it was a sound source that gained popularity not only among enthusiasts but also among a wide range of fans. Speaking of the famous sound source in Clapton’s career, “24 Nights” related sound sources, this has become a standard sound source that is immediately recalled, but this time, the heavyweight Taper has obtained the multi-track master. Now, let’s take a look at the schedule of “18 Nights” in 1990, the first year of the consecutive performances that rewrote the record of British entertainment history for two consecutive years, and the titles already released by our shop.・January 14, 15, 16, 1990: Birmingham performance (with 4-piece band) arranged as a warm-up for “24 Nights” ・January 18, 1990: First day of 18 Nights, 4-piece band (hereafter referred to as 4-piece band) 19th 20th: 18th-20th recording title “PRINCELY GIFT” (Beano) 22nd 23rd 24th [This work] ・January 26-February 1, 1990: 13-piece band (large band format including percussion, backing vocals, second guitar, and horn section) January 30th, 31st, February 1st recording title “THIRTEEN PIECE NIGHTS” (Beano) ・February 3, 4, 5, 1990: Blues Night (a big blues session with senior and junior bluesmen) recording title “BLUES NIGHT” (No Label)・February 8, 1990: Orchestra Night (stage with a full orchestra backed by a conductor) Recording title “FIRST ORCHESTRS NIGHT” (Beano) 9th and 10th 4-piece performances on 6 days, 13-piece performances on 6 days, blues night on 3 days, and orchestra night on 3 days, for a total of 18 days. We have released high-quality sound sources of all 4 bands from both soundboard sources and audience sources, but the sound source of January 24th, which is said to be a classic, has not been released. The reason for this is that we thought that releasing the same copy sound board sound source as other labels would not be fresh and would not achieve sound quality that surpasses others. However, this time we have finally obtained a multi-track master that can be said to be the best and longest in the history of sound sources on this day. Now we can proudly offer the best title of January 24th to everyone. The ultra-clearness that can only be experienced with multi-track recording, and the straight sound without any impurities, come directly to you. Of course, the original sound source is completely unedited, so Clapton’s MC is also uncut. It is the longest in history. It may no longer be necessary to explain this “classic” day, but the reason why Clapton brought the four-piece to the beginning of the “18 Night” schedule is probably because he wanted the audience to hear the performance of a minimal rock band unit first. In a configuration without a second guitar, Clapton was the only guitarist. Although the sound was not thick, it was a very responsible stage where he had to compete with a straight guitar play without any tricks. This was the final day. And Clapton made a magnificent performance that could be said to be the culmination of the four-piece band. His enthusiasm is clearly shown in the numbers from “JOURNEYMAN”, which accounts for 7 of the 19 songs. This attitude also suggests that he wanted to hear the “new Clapton” with the new album, but the traditional hit songs played by this small but elite group are also excellent. Incidentally, the official live album “24 NIGHTS” features Running On Faith, White Room, and Sunshine Of Your Love from that day. To celebrate this energetic consecutive performance of Clapton, his friend drummer Phil Collins, who also collaborated with “JOURNEYMAN”, rushed over and participated in three encore songs. In Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door, he played only the hi-hat, creating a tasteful stage, and in Crossroads and Sunshine Of Your Love, he played the tambourine lightly to add color. If you listen to this album, you will realize that “after all, this day was a great stage that deserved to become a standard.” Here is the awesome Clapton. Please experience the intense freshness of the original multi-track master, which is decisively different from copies from air checks and radio show discs.
