Description
To commemorate the release of the 1992 RAH box set “An Exceptional Legacy” this week, we will release popular titles from the RAH performances that have been sold out. First of all, this was the first title released exclusively from the unreleased high-quality master tapes of the 12 consecutive performances at the Royal Albert Hall in early 1989, which we previously obtained directly from the recorder himself who lives in the UK. Speaking of the RAH performances in 1989, it was a time when Clapton was becoming even more aggressive in anticipation of the recording of the album “JOURNEYMAN”, and it is highly regarded as a performance that showed off his extremely sharp performance skills. There were previously released audience recordings of these three days of performances, but the master of this board was a stereo audience source that boasted a very clear and outstanding sound balance that easily surpassed them all. The contents are a complete recording of the three performances from the first day with a four-piece band with Phil Collins on drums. Clapton’s guitar is more prominent in the four-piece band, and you can see him playing away. The set list for the four-piece night is different from the nine-piece band performance in the second half, and the band offers a variety of songs, including the Dominos’ classic “Bell Bottom Blues,” the nostalgic Dylan number “Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door,” the powerful “Forever Man,” and Collins’ timely hit “Easy Lover.” In the surprising “Easy Lover,” the falsetto vocals sung by Philip Bailey are performed by Nathan East. The set list is the same for all three days, but the performance of Clapton and the band, which is full of improvisation, is different on each day, which is a fun thing to listen to and compare. When listening to “Forever Man,” Collins’ drums are different on each day, and you can’t help but admire his professional performance. The only drawback is that there is a drop in sound due to poor contact in the right channel caused by the master during the first 30 seconds of DISC2-1. of the January 20th performance, but fans will be happy to be able to listen to all three performances at once with this high sound quality. This will be the last encore release, so please don’t miss this opportunity.
