This 2-hour, 4-minute recording captures the second day of a 12-day concert series at London’s Royal Albert Hall on February 21, 1993, from a recently released DAT audience master. This is a never-before-seen recording, never before available. Each instrument and vocal is clear and crisp, recorded using the then-state-of-the-art DAT technology. Apparently, Clapton was using these shows to select blues tracks for the “From the Cradle” album, and the set includes many rare blues tracks not featured on his later “Nothing But the Blues Tour.” While Little Feat drummer Richie Hayward remains a constant presence, as he did on Japan’s performances later that year, it’s also worth noting that Donald Duck Dunn was brought on as bassist exclusively for these shows. Jimmie Vaughan also makes an appearance during the encore, performing a solo solo on “Sweet Home Chicago,” adding to the already impressive list of highlights.
