Description

Eric Clapton, dressed in a black Gianni Versace suit and looking like an Italian fashion model, rocked to the max on the 1990 “Journeyman Tour,” which is still highly regarded today, and the superb stereo audience recording of the performance in Atlanta, Georgia on July 28th, which was the first to appear, has been released as a two-disc set. The master uses the familiar JEMS archive transferred to DAT, but the label’s own professional mastering has been applied to further brush up the high sound quality. According to the recorder’s data, the volume level was low for one minute from the start of recording, and by raising the volume of that part, the hiss noise was slightly higher than in other parts, but the overall total balance is the best. The standard for judging the sound quality on this tour is the sound quality and power of the five consecutive drum fills in the intro of the opening number “Pretending.” If this is soft, the overall sound often becomes boneless, but in this part of the main board, you can hear the raging sound. Therefore, from now on, you can enjoy the whole show with this dynamic sound. This day was the sixth performance of the second leg of the US tour. Since the first leg started in March, Clapton has been performing a dazzling performance with a set centered on the album “JOURNEYMAN”, so the stability of the play and the band is outstanding, and the performance on this day is also very tight. In hard numbers such as “Pretending”, “No Alibis”, “White Room”, “Bad Love”, and “Sunshine Of Your Love”, he explodes with dazzling and dazzling solos, and in moody numbers such as “Old Love” and “Wonderful Tonight”, he shows off a melting and emotional solo. It’s fun to weave the phrases of “Layla” into the solo of “White Room”. And in the blues numbers “Before You Accuse Me” and “Crossroads”, he attracts with his soulful play that goes the royal road. Although it is a tour with many audience sources, it can be said that this board has become one of the representative works of this tour because of its quality.
