Description

We have obtained the best audience master of Clapton’s latest European tour, the Lyon performance! Eric Clapton’s latest 2024 European tour was carried out from May to June and ended successfully. For most performances, we have realized an ultra-fast release from the amazingly good original master. Customers have said that they are happy to be able to listen to many of the latest tour sound sources so quickly with good sound quality, but this time we have also obtained the original master of the Lyon performance in France on May 29th at the end of the tour (the second to last performance)! Moreover, this is a complete set of the day, including a DVD containing audience shot footage that completely recorded the stage of this day in good quality. The sound quality of this master is also a superb level stereo recording, similar to the simultaneously released “Lucca Summer Festival 2024: Definitive”. Not only is the drum sound recorded with great force, but the entire musical sound is grainy, and Clapton’s guitar play and vocals are clearly captured at an excellent level, so you can listen with confidence. The included DVD was shot from a fixed angle, slightly to the left of the stage, in the third floor stands of this arena, which can accommodate over 10,000 people, overlooking the entire stage, and including all four vertical screens installed on the stage. Therefore, you can enjoy the state of the stage and close-up shots of Clapton and the members featured on the screen at the same time, and the progress of the stage is very clear. Moreover, because an HD camera was used, the focus is not blurred despite the zoom shot from a long distance, and the quality is easy to watch. The audio is also recorded with very good stereo audience recording, and there is no poor sound quality that makes you feel the distance of the seats. At the beginning, a unique introduction by the producer is added, and you can enjoy the shock as if the opening was Layla. There is only one slight sound jump at the beginning of the opening Blue Dust, but there are no problems after that. Clapton’s look is a gray shirt, gray jacket, and blue jeans. He plays a Stratocaster painted in the colors of the Palestinian flag, which he used in the “SAVE A CHILD Concert (For GAZA Children)” charity concert held in December last year (the video has already been released on DVD in our shop). Clapton’s European tour took place on the following dates (the titles of the earliest releases are written after the venues. Titles in italics are new releases). This week, the definitive version of the Lyon and Lucca performances will be added. The appeal of this tour is that the set list has been significantly changed from last year’s tour, and many rare numbers were set in from newly written songs. That’s why I’m sure that both enthusiasts and fans wanted to hear it as soon as possible, and I’m glad that they were happy with our fastest release. For Clapton, who doesn’t change his set list much in recent years, it was a dramatic change. The only change in the band members was that the keyboard was replaced by Paul Carrack, and Tim Carmon, a familiar figure in the Clapton band, was replaced by Tim Carmon, and the rest was the same as last year’s tour. Therefore, the encore number has finally changed from High Time We Went, which featured Carrack in recent years! Surrounded by reliable and talented members who perform solid performances, Clapton is showing a very fulfilling performance, including a surprise. This Lyon performance had a set list that was only available on this day, so it’s something you can enjoy again. Please listen to it. Unlike the previous tour, the unexpected set list for this day is attractive! If we take a look at the highlights of the set list for this stage, the opening is surprising. This instrumental song, titled Blue Dust, was dedicated to Jeff Beck, who passed away last year, and was a variation of Blue Rainbow, which was first performed at the Japan performance in April of the same year! I can’t believe he was already working on a variation of a new song that hasn’t even been officially recorded yet… This alone shows Clapton’s vigorous creativity. Moving on to the acoustic set, the title number from the 2005 album “BACK HOME” is played, Back Home. This song was also a super rare song that was only played at the beginning of the 2006 tour. Perhaps this song also contains feelings for the people of Gaza who lost their homes. And surprisingly, in this acoustic set, he plays the original song Golden Ring from “BACKLESS” released in 1978. This was a number included in the project album “The Lady In The Balcony: Lockdown Sessions,” recorded live in a studio at an old castle in England in 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is likely that he liked the acoustic arrangement there and performed it at this performance. This was the first time in 46 years since the 1978 tour that they played it live in front of an audience. This was one of the highlights of the day, and it is valuable just to be able to watch the performance scene on the bonus DVDR. The first song after returning to the electric set was the powerful Dominos number, Got to Get Better in a Little While. It was also featured for the first time in a long time in the aforementioned “SAVE A CHILD Concert (For GAZA Children),” and Clapton was able to enjoy a dynamic performance for the first time in a long time, so it is thought that he set it in. Sonny Emory’s outstanding stick handling is also wonderful here. On the DVDR, it is also fun to see Clapton surrendering himself to Emory’s drum solo in the middle of the show on the screen. After this, the first blues pattern on this tour, That’s Alright, was played. This song was played as an encore in Liverpool, the second performance of the tour. I thought there would be no more surprises, but as a special production, Nathan East played a song called Close To Home, written by Lyle Mays, as a prologue before Cocaine. And there was another surprise at the very end. In the encore, Clapton’s favorite blues song, Before You Accuse Me, was played. In this way, the second half of the stage was a rare set list that could be called a “blues day”, with a feeling that romantic numbers were eliminated and it was solidified with old blues. You can see that the artist Clapton put together the set list for this tour in Lyon, thinking of various things and various people. Of course, it is natural that he wanted to play these songs at the root, but it seems that he wanted to show them with his own feelings. A lost best friend, a world of constant war, an admired bluesman, his career so far. This set list and this fulfilling live performance were the result of various thoughts that came to Clapton’s mind. It was also unusual for him to not play Wonderful Tonight and Layla on this tour. We hope you will enjoy the Lyon performance, delivered to you in the finest quality, with audio and video, sooner than anywhere else.
