Description
When Eric Clapton’s Japan tour was over, the first day on April 13th was full of elements that would make the first day a legendary one that would be talked about for years to come. In addition to a new set list, the electric Layla was revived for the first time in 10 years (it was only played on this day out of the total of five performances), and John Mayer, a young number one guitarist who is also friends with Clapton and who was performing in Japan at the same time, made a surprise appearance. In addition, at the beginning of the acoustic set, Clapton himself made a greeting comment. There, he also said, “I’m happy to be back here again. I feel like I’m at home here (Stay home.).” There is no doubt that this was a memorable performance for the fans who saw it that day, but we hope that those who couldn’t see it will also feel the “specialness” of this day. While Clapton was still in Japan, we released the recording of this first day as “Budokan 2019 Day 1” earlier than anywhere else. It was a high-quality record full of stereo feeling, so the “legend” was quickly realized and well received, but after that, our shop obtained two more wonderful original masters! This time, we will release it in a 4-disc set. The position where the master titled Recorder 1 was recorded is a DAT recording at No. 4, West C row, 1st floor of the Budokan. This taper is the person who recorded the high-quality sound of the Saitama Arena 2-Day performance where Clapton and Jeff Beck performed a miraculous co-starring in 2009, and the master was made into a record as “ERIC CLAPTON & JEFF BECK – LIVE TOGETHER (6CD)” and was praised by fans of both Clapton and Beck. In his hands, if you are in a good position, you can be guaranteed unquestionable quality, so to speak, he is a person who can be called a “hit man”. Our engineers further mastered the high-quality master and polished the sound. It is of unquestionable quality. And the master entitled Recorder 2 is also an original master that we obtained directly. The recording position was the center of Arena Block B. With such a good position, when I listened to it, it was of a quality that was not inferior to Recorder 1. Therefore, it was a set of 4 discs because “both are unquestionably high quality sound. Both are hard to throw away”. Since the recording positions are different, I hope you will enjoy listening to the two high quality masters such as the tone output and the excitement of the audience. Now, to repeat last week, what was so great about Clapton on the first day? Three years ago, Clapton was walking on the stage with a painful feeling with a supporter wrapped around his right knee. Anyway, he was full of energy. That was reflected in the play. The listening points are the number Wanna Make Love To You, which was the first set-in this time, and the solo of electric Layla. Clapton’s unique phrase composition, which shakes off the danger of mistones due to old age and mixes in the fast playing of slow hand playing. Clapton is alive and well! Of course, the emotional tone of the Martin signature model and the delicate fingerpicking in the acoustic set were also wonderful. His thoughts that he could not retire completely even though he declared his retirement from touring many times. The thoughts of us Japanese fans who supported him and shared it at the Budokan. This 4-disc set packs the moment when it all matched up perfectly. Clapton is back in Japan! On this first day, there could be as many masters as you want! Please pursue this “special” day with this main board.
