Description

Amazing Eric Clapton unreleased treasured sound source is now released! Discs 1 and 2 include songs from his 1986 summer jazz festival tour, in which he changed his backing band to a four-piece band with Phil Collins and others. This is a complete recording of the stage at Roskilde Festival. This master was obtained by our store at the same time from a taper living in the UK, and I think everyone will be amazed by the sound quality and power. In the past, there was an incomplete version of this performance with a soundboard recording (the beginning was cut in, and parts after Layla were not recorded, which was a shame, with the PA out), but when you listen to this version, the soundboard This is a complete recording of an outstanding stereo audience recording with an extremely clear sound image that makes you feel as if the original sound is playing right in front of you (the volume gradually increases at the beginning) (I think it was a problem with the PA at the time). Not only does it pass well in modern times, but it is of great quality that can be declared to be the highest audience recording even by modern standards. There were tape changes between songs, but since they were all between songs, the sense of discomfort was eliminated by cross-fade processing, so the listener’s excitement would not drop at all. With the appearance of this edition, it can be asserted that the previously released editions have been completely surpassed. Also, Clapton’s play contained here is amazing, and you can see how he was “on fire” on this tour immediately after recording the album “AUGUST”. At this time, he is vividly captured playing the trebly tone of a custom Stratocaster with a Ferrari red finish equipped with a newly acquired Race Sensor pickup. Officially, a video work at the “Montreux Jazz Festival” has been released, but it is a superb title that you can’t talk about Clapton in 1986 without listening to the main version that even surpasses it. And Disc 3 includes the sound check (rehearsal) of the day, which was moved to the jazz festival venue in France eight days later. This is also an audience recording, but it is recorded in stereo with a clear and superb sound quality that is as good as the Roskilde performance. Considering the content and sound quality, you can see that it is an extremely valuable recording that could only be recorded by those involved. Normally, it is Clapton’s extremely valuable sound source that is extremely rare for the sound check sound source to leak. Of course, this sound source also uses the same first generation master as Roskilde, which we independently obtained from a taper living in the UK. In this rehearsal, we played Elton John’s I’m Still Standing, and for fun we inserted the Beatles’ Oh! This was because Greg Phillinganes, a highly trusted keyboardist, was in charge of the direction. The rehearsal progresses under his leadership, but of course the conversation with Clapton in between is also included, which is very interesting for enthusiasts. If his “partition” is demonstrated so far, it is understandable that Clapton was interested in featuring him in Behind The Mask. What’s interesting is that it seems to have been a public rehearsal with some members of the audience, and at the end Clapton calls out, “Thank you for coming. See you at the show tonight.” (includes applause). Just like Paul McCartney’s Japan performance last year, the audience who was here was able to watch the sound check and the actual show, and what an enviable treatment it was. The set list for this tour was the same for all shows, so if you think of Roskilde as the real show and listen to this sound check before moving on to discs 1 and 2, you’ll get exactly that feeling! It is a wonderful title that captures “August Tour” in its entirety with the best sound quality of a sound board.
